What did you do with your flock today?

Seems she has off and on days. I never know until I see her in the mornings. She roosted the past couple nights, and is actively seeking out treats, though she hangs back from the crowd. As a lone survivor out the 4 chick brood, she is alone, but middle of the pecking order.

View attachment 3921471Sam disappeared last Wednesday. I have a sinking feeling he became a bobcat's dinner. A nearby neighbor saw their cat attacked and taken by one recently, and could not thwart the bob. I have the neighborhood on lookout. Missing my sweet boy.

🤤 drooling over here. All the wonderful fruit!
@FBMcrazy8 good to catch up with you. You've been busy! I believe you and the kiddos will do great, 4H is a wonderful program. Learn as we go, you'll get better each time.
Oh gosh, I'm rooting for Sam! Sam looks like a smart capable kitty who just needs to hide out for a bit.
Probably a stupid question but, did you walk around shaking a container of crunchies while calling? I have called cats out of the woodwork with that tech (all but my Forest but not giving up either). I hope Sam makes it home real quick ♡ he is in my good thoughts.

Oh no! So sorry to hear Sam is missing 😢
Hopefully he is fine somewhere and on his way home ❤️

What is it with cats this weekend? My Elliot has been poorly. He started vomiting Thursday night. Not unusual for him as he lacks certain digestive enzymes and has very sensitive digestion. And the bowel resection he underwent 10 years ago also impacts him. The odd bout of vomiting after food is normal for him but this continued into Friday. Only after meals and he hasn't seemed ill. Then yesterday morning, after over 20 hours without being sick, he vomited fresh blood and now seemed off-colour.
Straight to the vet to check he wasn't bleeding internally or in immediate danger. He wasn't and he's back in the morning for bloodwork and other tests. As he's looking a bit thinner than usual but doesn't seem unwell, I'm dreading a cancer diagnosis.
Oh gosh that is scary. I'm so sorry. I'm glad Elliott is in great safe hands with you. Hope all stays smooth ♡
I lost a beautiful kitten unexpectedly in the span of about 3 hours. Really pulled my heart and I kind of could not talk for a few days. It hurts.
Another developed a huge bump on the side of his neck. Thought it may have been lymphatic but it exploded just before I loaded him up to go to vets. A abscess...

I was so relieved. Have no idea how he got it but.. .
Last night I spotted 2 more kittens that I will trap and get off streets. I guess we win some and we lose some... but I still find myself crying often because of the losses. Deep breaths ♡

Rode up yesterday and brought snacks and feed to the gang. After filling feeders and spoiling them with papaya, tomatoes & starfruit, I met up with DH and we went for a good ride on some fun back roads up Koke'e. We had not been out to play in over a month (at least it seems) and I really needed to change my view to this.

It was a stunningly clear day so after our back road ride we rode up to the Kalalau lookout.

Except for all your work with kitties and chickens, it seems like you live on vacation. I'd feel like I was on one every time I walked outside. Well, I do anyway, but there is nothing like the tropics.

Yeah, sometimes I look up and think, this is nice! Mostly I just do my chores and try and hide from the heat as the town I live in is hot, humid and yet, very dry. We are lucky to have the canyon at our back door and the ocean at our front. Now that I am old -er, I'm liking the mountain more.

Lots and lots of places on the mainland are amazing. I think we just get caught up in our heads and also, it just becomes our normal.

He doesn't respond to crunchies like chickens do. A typical cat, who only comes when he wants attention, food, or to be inside. Thank you for your good thoughts. He has never been away for more than half a day. He still may show up, but I'm losing hope. Everytime I hear the commercial with a cat sound, my heart misses him.

That is a huge abcess! Glad it has started draining. He probably got poked by something germy that started the infection.
We once had a cat in Texas that had a huge abcess on his leg that was affecting his gait, and upon inspection it appeared to be a small snake bite. I called the vet, and they let me buy some antibiotics to give him. It erupted, and he let me squeeze all the pus out, which relieved the walking issue.

So sorry to hear about Elliot. How old is he? Our geriatric pets live long lives, and seem to have some of the same health issues that we do. He is getting the best love and care from you.
Thank you. He and his sister, Grace, are 15 (she's the elder by an hour!). He's looking much happier this morning and hasn't vomited in just over 24 hrs. He's also been stuffing his face like he's been starved for a month and also had an extensive play fight with Grace this morning. I'm kinda hoping that he may have just ruptured blood vessels in his esophagus with the intensity of the vomiting. He's still going to see the vet for an ultrasound etc. today, if only for our own peace of mind.
