Thanks! Clara only contributed her genes. She's a good time girl - wants all the fun, none of the responsibility. Her idea of good parenting is to lay an egg under a broody Prudence then wash her hands - or rather wings - of it!

running lines to set up heated water bucket . first hard freeze soon! only have one heated water bucket, so I’m hooking it up for the chickens. I’d like to get another one for the ducks and a third one for the geese since I have them all in separate areas.. but for now, I’m thankful I’m home most of the time and can watch water and add kettles of boiling on top if it ever freezes during the day. and I don’t give my birds water in their house at night anyway., the chickens have it in their run, and when it’s Freezy rain out, they stay in there. I think there’s freezing rain coming tonight too.

We're in the same boat here in CT Jen. I have 1 heated waterer and cringe and the cost of a second one. The mornings have been cold with a thin sheet of ice, but I like you am thankful to have the time to be outside in the AM for them. I havnt plugged in my heated waterer yet; but know that any day now....This morning i can hear light rain and I'm thankful its not ice or snow.

I harvested 4-5 purple top turnips for Thanksgiving dinner, and after I stripped off most of the green leaves I gave the stalks and some leaves to the flock. They made happy noises.

Covered some of the venting, all the girls have been molting with one still loosing feathers, feel sorry for them we were at feels like 4F today with the wind.

I gave the girls some apples from the tree and scraps from the Thanksgiving rib roast and butternut squash. They really liked the beef bone, fat and squash seeds but they're getting bored of apples. LOL
