The EEs and BLs run away screaming "She's trying to kill me!"
BOs....these sweet, delicate, lovelies...they take any potential mama-hood very seriously. I like to tease them by popping eggs one at a time into their box....one at a time, they scuttle those eggs up underneath themselves "Mine!"

Oh gosh @PJ, guess you guys are used to and it will do good but wish you would share. I had to put sprinklers out on the lawn today. I miss the rain.

What day are your eggs on today? Are they in lockdown?
I was playing catch up today. Chicks are good. 6 sold, 11 in brooder 3 in incubator but I think they are done. I just wanted to give them some more time b4 I open them up. When I candled I did not see movement. Still, happy with 17 out of 20. Last of my Dark Brahma DNA and the gal who nabbed the first 6 grabbed the best. I was not going to hold onto any but think I am going to change my mind. Maybe I'll just pull a @kurby @PJ and do a back to back but I need to plan well cuz I have grand kids coming end of April.

That face is the one I was loving too! Such an adorable little floofer!! I agree with you, @TropicalBabies needs more just like him!!

Today I gave the new Dwarf crew some time with the big kid chickens. The hens did fine, but Mr Loudmouth (his name for now) was testing out where he fits in the order of things and it is definitely not the top! He’s a great example of little man syndrome hehe. Tried to get at a couple of the big hens, like Charlie, and she gave him the ‘what for’ and he tried to fight back. Puff came tearing over from the other run and fought with him until he backed down and went back to his corner. It’s so crazy watching them fight…when his hackles come out I only think about those scary dinosaurs in Jurassic Park!

The fight scared the new littles though…poor Sia and Cher are just so nervous and easily scared Sia was trying to bury herself under Cher

Went better than I expected though!

The hens did fine, but Mr Loudmouth (his name for now) was testing out where he fits in the order of things and it is definitely not the top! He’s a great example of little man syndrome hehe. Tried to get at a couple of the big hens, like Charlie, and she gave him the ‘what for’ and he tried to fight back. Puff came tearing over from the other run and fought with him until he backed down and went back to his corner. It’s so crazy watching them fight…when his hackles come out I only think about those scary dinosaurs in Jurassic Park!

Welp. I was visiting with the chicks this eve and noticing their cuteness looking for Geegee when I noticed a little blond had Princess Peaches toes! Oh my goodness so there is 3 I have to keep cuz I want the solid black as I know she is going to be a pullet. May as well try to keep them all... at least for awhile ♡

Yeah, i was nervous about the "what if they fight" scenario before my roosters ever did fight. But now that its happened a few times, its pretty clear who's bossman out there and he never has to use excessive force before the other one backs down.

One or two of the dark reds (sorry, I can't tell who's who much with the reds other than to say some are darker, some are lighter...and one survived a defeathering in the summer and stands out because of her feather regrowth) acts like mama bear for all of the other hens if any of the roosters lays on unwanted attention. Those couple of reds will flog the bujeeezuz outta the roo with her wings. That's the kind of girl power I like to see

My Leghorn Winnie found the only spot of melted snow and dirt to dust bath (apparently her enclosed/covered run with a warm dirt/straw bottom wasnt cutting it) so to the spa she went as she was caked and freezing. Hope she doesn't do it again, lol
