What did you do with your flock today?

Thanks. It’s been a bit traumatic for both me and my daughter…we are both afraid to go out and see them for fear we will find another of our favorites dead :-( It’s never the annoying roosters or least friendly birds! Always the favorites that just want snuggles and attention 😢😢
I really hope that you don’t suffer any more losses! I hope things start going better for you

Well, my heart is heavy and my stomach is turned upside down. I am so sad and heartbroken. My dog, the only one to really like me, killed ALL my ducks and my 3 week baby chickens. We cleaned up everything we could, and took the dog to the pound. 😭😭 I loved that dog but the moment I seen what she did to my little helpless babies, I knew she had to go. She has tried to get to my older chickens a few times and has been running off more. I just can’t keep a pet that is willing to do what she did to them. It was horrific and terrible. We made it with the older 18 chickens without any problems. The 3 week old chickens did ok obviously until the ducks. This husky spared nothing and just destroyed the babies like they were nothing. After her getting a taste of them we also knew our animals outside were no longer safe. I hated to have to get rid of her but I couldn’t look at her or touch her after that. I would never be able to look at her the same.

I don’t know how to deal with this. It would have been horrible if a raccoon did something like this but to have a beloved pet do this, is killing me.
Oh my gosh! That is so tragic! I am so very sorry!!!
Our daughter has 2 huskies...we normally keep them when they would go out of town but since my getting chickens that's been a no go...they were relentlessly determined to get em!
I cannot imagine what you are going through! Again I'm so very sorry!

I haven’t really felt like talking about chickens the past few days :-( My sweet little d’Uccle Lily that had the really crazy worm load I didn’t catch in time I guess that triggered the worming for all the chickens (that may have killed Axel) died just before we got home from our road trip. And my favorite little Silkie Cher that Aria used for showmanship died the next day. :-( Why is it always the sweet and gentle birds that die? Cher never really fit in and had a tough time trying to be a chicken, but she was just the sweetest little moppet.

I’m just feeling really sad and haven’t really found much joy in chickening this past month or so.
Again, I just hate this so much for yall!
It's gotta be heart wrenching!

My hobby is making videos of my Seramas and posting them on youtube. I get one done most days. I put different toys and objects in with them to see what happens. They've taken down a Dino or two in their time!
I actually enjoy watching them myself, because they behave differently when there's no human watching. I get to see their interactions and habits.
As for the nettles, they are tasty and don't sting once cooked. They are a great foraging resource for both people and chooks :) Nettle tea is used in herbal medicine as a 'blood cleanser' and makes a great skin wash for those with breakouts.

I'm so sorry. That's an awful thing to deal with. Husky's and their prey drive......

I actually found straight iodine on a qtip on the pox does a really good job of drying them out to speed things along. You might try! Poor Sonny and Cher 😢
Interesting! I wonder if betadine would do the same. I don’t have regular iodine, but from what I’ve seen the two are pretty similar. Might be worth a shot.

Yeah I think Betadine should work too!

I know, poor sweet Cher Bear :-(

Oh wow @FBMcrazy8 & @kurby22 just absolutely sh*t news. I am so sorry for you both- I feel your pain. I guess there are always lessons learned ♡

@kurby will/did you get Lily sent out to be tested? Just absolutely crazy you suffering another loss on an outward appearing healthy girl. I'm so sorry.

@FBMcrazy8 you just took the biggest hit on multiple levels. That dog is lucky you cared enough about it to give it away. I'm sure you were/are besides yourself with grief. I am sooooo sorry :hugs
