Baby ducks are so squirrelly! Still only two hatched and I made safety holes for all the eggs so the rest are fine, just not quite ready yet. Here's the squirrellyest baby. A little snowy female.

I don’t know! That’s definitely possible. Pet sitter said he was still alive today so fingers crossed I’m overreacting.Oh no! What a lovely boy. I'll send more prayers for Fluff![]()
Do you think he might have had a stroke? It sounds like what happened to Peggy, one of my ex-batts. She survived it but walked with a limp and couldn't lift her left wing. She died in my arms from a heart attack 6 months later but she still had a decent quality of life and she was nearly 5. I've been giving mine an extra biotin supplement during moult season as it seems to help them feather up quicker and support them otherwise. Clara and Gladys have horrible moults - Clara ends up practically oven ready and Gladys takes ages to feather back up.
I'm so glad he's still alive and hoping he makes a full recoveryI don’t know! That’s definitely possible. Pet sitter said he was still alive today so fingers crossed I’m overreacting.![]()
They just need a crying response!! Your DD giving hugs to him is just too much.I’m so sorry! I will be sending ALL my love and prayers your way!! And I agree…invincibility would be fantastic. I’m dreading loosing one of my babies. I mean granted it was hard with the ducks and chicks but there was so many reasons and ways for that sadness. Loosing a chicken that your raised and watch it do that funniest things and learn their personalities…that is a whole other kind of sadness. I’m sorry but I am hoping for a recovery.
Oh Kurby ♡ I wish I was your neighbor. I wish I could help you out and ease your worry ♡♡ I am so sorry. Fluff is in my best chicken thoughts![]()
Poor baby! We lost a rooster like that years ago. We were out with the chickens and one minute he was fine, clucking and calling his ladies. ..the next minute he was dead. It was so sudden that I think he must've had a heart attack or stroke. I'm glad you guys are getting the chance to say goodbye, though I'll hope he recovers.![]()

That looks like so much fun! Cold feels amazing sometimes doesn't it. Hope the game tomorrow is a great one!I’m trying hard to enjoy my visit up here and not worry about the chickens…it’s been cold here and I’m loving it! Wearing toasty warm sweatshirts and drinking hot coffee…my Norwegian blood is doing a happy dance! Kids have been super excited every time we pass a pile of snowWe’ve gone to a basketball game, shopped at my favorite outdoor store, ate at my favorite fast food taco place and breakfast place, shopped at the Vandal store, checked out my old sorority, and then walked through the arboretum and botanical gardens! Football game is tomorrow and I can’t wait! Just dropping in to say hi!

I’m glad to hear he is still alive! I hope he makes a full recovery. Fingers crossedThanks ladies, I hate that it’s Fluff and I hate that he’s so illThe gentle ones really do seem to get sick more often than the standoffish ones. That makes me more bummed!
I wish you were my neighbor too @TropicalBabies but not for chicken sitting helpthat would just be the cherry on top! Seeing as I too like cussing, coffee and too many chickens
@ChicksnMore i definitely think you need to get to the doc asap! Those types of spider bites are nasty things! We had Hobo spiders in Moscow (where I am this weekend) and they were aggressive mean spiders and I worried all the time about being bit by one! They’re related to the recluse but not the same thing…scary that’s it’s starting to get black and rashy!
Looks like you all are having an amazing time!! It’s good to get away sometimes.
