What did you do with your flock today?

If your birds are like mine, they will eat only what they want if dry, and leave the rest. Probably better as mash. My chooks gobble that up! I would add all that as I felt like it. Have a bunch of dried oregano from last season. Is garlic ok for them? I thought onions and garlic are a no no, or maybe that's just dogs.
I have read both. That garlic isn’t good for them but more often than not I have seen that they can have it. I do give garlic to mine every once in while and they eat it. I have also seen the same for onion. I don’t believe though that eating it will harm the chickens, I believe it is more because of the taste it can give your eggs. I haven’t had the problem with taste but I also don’t give a lot of any of it. It’s more in like oats from oatmeal.

I’m very hopeful he pulls through. I have tried to put the water and food near him so he doesn’t have to go so far… but then he just moves across the kennel to the farthest point from it. He does get over to it though. I’m just really hoping he doesn’t end up loosing his whole leg.
He is still eating good?

Think I have a winner here. 🪰🪰🪰🪰

After burning holes in it I put the bait in b4 securing it. I had to walk away for about 5 minutes and when I came back it had 4 flies trapped in it. This will be a throw away one so, $0.05 + $1.25 = $1.30 plus a little tape and wire... plastic in the landfill ☹... but convenient.

In hindsight, I'd make only 2 holes lower and have one continuous piece of tape on the top. And duct tape would have been better but could not find and did a hemajang job out of it.

Yes, he is. I have been giving him some cranberries and oregano and some cracked corn. Only because I seen him pecking around on the floor of the kennel.
I have found the better the appetite the better the hope. If he is eating well it leans to him being of decent health. No infection. Stay the course. Keep him eating healthy ♡

Ok! Thank you! I will see if I can find some too. He is stepping on it better the last 2 days. He isnt hoping so much. Before the last 2 days he was barely using it at all to move, barely putting it down. Now he puts it down and moves…very slowly but moves.
I'm so glad! Is it still as black as it was in those last pics or is better skin picking up?
He’s back outside and roosting and such, but heavily favoring the hurt leg.
No! Poor Bruno! I'm so glad you found him in time!!! Hopefully he'll get a good night's rest and be back to himself in the morning! They sure can get into some crazy stuff!
The dwarfs are little birds...just a bit bigger then the oegb's and a lot fluffier. Most of them are mottled over black breasted red colors or Millie fluer colors.
Oh wow! They are gorgeous! They remind me so much of my lil d'uccles except they don't have the cheeks and feathered feet.
So far I have kept 100's- guessing over 300 bags out of the landfill and made hopefully well over that $$wise for my 2 causes. It is just staring to catch on!
OMGeeze!!! That is amazing! You are doing an awesome job for both the landfills, your causes AND functional bags for so many!!!
I'm glad ya got a break though! That's important!
And that fly catcher! Whoa you amaze me at how creative and good you are at sooooooo many things!!!

That does look like a winner! Reminds me of a fish trap!

Amazing job on the bags! I think you definitely could use some helping hands. Any chance the $$ recipients might have some volunteers that could help?

Hemajang is working, so winna! I made one last year which worked, too. Just toss when done.🤙

@FBMcrazy8 so sorry about Bruno. Hopefully he has gotten over the trauma of struggling and hanging upside down, and just strained muscles, joints, and not anything torn or broken. Sending healing thoughts and prayers your way.
@ChicksnMore, @Shetland lover , your breeding "program" is so interesting! What is a landrace bird, versus other breeds? Forgive my ignorance. It's so fascinating. Such beautiful colors and variations!
@TropicalBabies Such dedication to great causes. So many bags! Flies get bad here in the summer, it was worse when we had a dog.
Just found out it's Chinese New Year this weekend. Have to make something for that.

Landrace breeds are chickens that have developed into a recognizable breed by natural selection rather then breeders choice. They're well suited to whatever area they're from. Even though their recognizable as a breed, they usually have some variations still.

The dwarfs are my first experience with landrace chickens. Can't say I have a program other than to try to figure out their genes and what variations they can produce. Just curiosity and fascination.

I've wanted to try making moon cakes like they do for the Chinese new year. Hope you find something yummy for the weekend 😋
