What did you do with your flock today?

That maybe…I wasn’t really sure. But I have some of their eggs incubating…so maybe his true colors will come through one of the babies… 🤷‍♀️ I’m honestly still learning about how the coloring works.

I don’t really retain information very well. I can read it but when I’m done, i have forgotten half of what I read. I’m so better at learning hands on. I have done some looking and reading but nothing is really sticking.
That’s a lot how I operate too, and genetics is reallllly hard to understand by reading. You have to see it and experiment with it and then some of the words you read make more sense. That’s how I learn too! Just reading it is like a fools errand haha.

Yup basically. I skip a lot of words I don’t know what it means and before you know it I don’t even know what I’m reading. And I look up the words I don’t know and get even more confused sometimes 🤣 :lau I’m honestly glad I’m not the only one confused!

So, I am going to be hatching some of my Call duck eggs in about 2 weeks. BUT the lady I got my Calls from has A LOT of eggs she is hatching. Right now she has over 100 and she has so many coming she can’t keep up. She has sold a lot but not enough to make a difference. I told her I would buy some. Then I thought about it and she has breeds she is trying to get back, due to her loss. So I told her I would hatch some for her and maybe I can keep some from it.

Any tips would be appreciated on how to get a good hatch rate… @ChicksnMore

It's been raining hard here for the last 15 hrs and has caused some pretty big puddles to which the ducks are ecstatic. They are grass surfing as we speak.
The ladies are not having as much fun. They are 10/10 not impressed.
Went out and lined the coop, run, palace with straw and bedding to make sure they have a large dry area. In this process, learned a funny fact.
Wanna heard a bunch of selective hearing hens? Walk up to their area with an umbrella. Don't even have to walk in. You don't have to point it at them. Poof gone.

I can just see this ALL happening! That is so funny!!! :lau

That they are! But so sweet now that they are out and about. The rooster though…he is a handful already. I’m waiting though for them to get the pecking order handled. 🤞🤞
Yeah the little cochin fellow I just sold was a hoot and a half! His crowing all night long, I guess trying to establish himself in the flock, was driving me crazy! My little girls haven't gotten as much personality just yet.
What ages are yalls cochins?

Definitely not alone! I tend to say "if I understand correctly" a lot because...well, I often get it wrong 😁.

I'll do a hatching post tomorrow...today I've had a couple drinks and I'm a wimpy light weight that rarely drinks... 😂
