What did you do with your flock today?

So I can’t recall who, but someone was saying they enjoyed seeing all the recycled materials coops…so I have another one to share! This coop is primarily going to be used as a “love shack” and/or grow out/baby brooder. Used a bunch of my paint, left over boards, and bought a roof. I’m happy with its sturdiness :)

So with the break in the weather—we put 2/3rds of it together. I’m beat! We will build the second run tomorrow that comes off the other side!

Looks really really good!!!

My chickens and me worked in the garden inbetween rain drops most of the day. Great day, lots of bugs, lots of fun, got lots done, feel so normal and balanced and the garden looks great ♡

I canceled Mo'o Mele's one way flight to Seattle. We all have to try harder to be a family. I don't want him going. He is so happy with us. Today was a good day. I had 4 cats and one dog all sleeping within a few feet of each other. Mo was one.

Well, got to put the chooks to bed. Night all.

*** 20 eggs today!

Hi!
I moved my chickens water, becuase I learned when I move it the chickens can find bugs underneath the bin! Especially earthworms I noticed.
Mine go crazy for exactly the same reason when i move the poop bin to empty it. In better weather we all go on a bug hunt, moving plant pots and rocks to see what we can find. The level of excitement it generates is just insane. It certainly keeps everyone entertained 🤣

Stanley has developed a 'cute' new behaviour. At bed-time, he's the last to go in to roost. Ferdy is often first to bed, making sure Penelope and Clara get settled. Stanley takes care of Pru and Gladys. Once they're in bed, he hops out and follows me back to Ferdy's coop while I collect Ferdy for his snuggle time. Ferdy is usually waiting to jump on my shoulder but he makes time to greet his son while i shut the girls in. Stan then does his little cockerel dance around my feet once Ferdy is on my shoulder. He then tries to herd me back to his coop and tries his very best to get me to go inside with him! I don't think he can get his head round the fact that I'm never going to fit inside 🤣

I'm not sure why but I somehow feel directly responsible for this. Kinda in between "I'm sorry" and "your welcome!". Feel free to remind me I am not that powerful 😆😖🤦‍♀️
Just met someone tonight that flew from Maui to Seattle, flight time was 4:40. The reverse flight took 6 :40. Extra strong jet stream. Are you sure it wasn't you?

Oh, I would get such a kick out of seeing Stan herd you.

Looks better than new store-bought ones! Great job!

Got 10 eggs today. It's nice to only have to look in one coop. Pepper is doing good. I think she lays every other day, so expecting her to lay one tomorrow. Pikake, who had to move to the main coop, looked a little henpecked tonight. She was roosted between a boy and the wall. Tips of her comb had been pecked and bleeding a little. Poor girl. Reorganizing the order is never fun for the lowest pullet. Do you think I should just put her with Pepper for company? Pepper was also near the bottom.
