What did you do with your flock today?

Hi!
I moved my chickens water, becuase I learned when I move it the chickens can find bugs underneath the bin! Especially earthworms I noticed.
Wow! The worms collect under your container quickly. What healthy soil. I have a bunch of stumps and such in my run for hops & bugs but no worms. I may have the only chickens in the entire planet that don't like worms. 🤷‍♀️ My worms probably taste REALLY bad.
So I can’t recall who, but someone was saying they enjoyed seeing all the recycled materials coops…so I have another one to share! This coop is primarily going to be used as a “love shack” and/or grow out/baby brooder. Used a bunch of my paint, left over boards, and bought a roof. I’m happy with its sturdiness :)

So with the break in the weather—we put 2/3rds of it together. I’m beat! We will build the second run tomorrow that comes off the other side!

That was quick! Boy, you really got the hang of these little coop builds @kurby22 and have a quaint chicken village ♡♡♡. Very charming! Look how big the new coop is next to the prefab! Everybody is STOKED! and getting the test of weather today 🤞🤞hope you are proud and happy. I am SURE they will fare better than the coops you are replacing 👏

Stanley has developed a 'cute' new behaviour. At bed-time, he's the last to go in to roost. Ferdy is often first to bed, making sure Penelope and Clara get settled. Stanley takes care of Pru and Gladys. Once they're in bed, he hops out and follows me back to Ferdy's coop while I collect Ferdy for his snuggle time. Ferdy is usually waiting to jump on my shoulder but he makes time to greet his son while i shut the girls in. Stan then does his little cockerel dance around my feet once Ferdy is on my shoulder. He then tries to herd me back to his coop and tries his very best to get me to go inside with him! I don't think he can get his head round the fact that I'm never going to fit inside 🤣
That is so funny ♡ you paint such a wonderful picture. Your birds are such loves.

I'm not sure why but I somehow feel directly responsible for this. Kinda in between "I'm sorry" and "your welcome!". Feel free to remind me I am not that powerful 😆😖🤦‍♀️
Reminding you wouldn't be any fun!

That looks wonderful! Yep...you could totally make a living off of coop building!
My chickens and me worked in the garden inbetween rain drops most of the day. Great day, lots of bugs, lots of fun, got lots done, feel so normal and balanced and the garden looks great ♡

I canceled Mo'o Mele's one way flight to Seattle. We all have to try harder to be a family. I don't want him going. He is so happy with us. Today was a good day. I had 4 cats and one dog all sleeping within a few feet of each other. Mo was one.

Well, got to put the chooks to bed. Night all.

*** 20 eggs today!
Aw...Mo'o Mele's probably very glad. Hopefully he'll settle down after a bit and learn to be a little less saucy with the others ❤️
Got 10 eggs today. It's nice to only have to look in one coop. Pepper is doing good. I think she lays every other day, so expecting her to lay one tomorrow. Pikake, who had to move to the main coop, looked a little henpecked tonight. She was roosted between a boy and the wall. Tips of her comb had been pecked and bleeding a little. Poor girl. Reorganizing the order is never fun for the lowest pullet. Do you think I should just put her with Pepper for company? Pepper was also near the bottom.
That sounds like a great idea ❤️

Well, I don't think the bleeding is good. They say to let them work out their stuff till there is blood. Yeah, maybe bunking her up with another sweetie will help 🤞 I hope so. Love happy endings ♡♡♡

Happy Saturday all!
Woke up to a functioning 6 cat, 1 dog tiny household. My heart soars with the Eva... hopefully not to crash down like a chicken.
My plans are to admire my garden, sell several dozen eggs, cut and sew a bunch of bags all while watching the gentile ebb and flow of my fuzzy and feathered flock.
Looks like we have some sunny weather. Would not have minded keeping the rain for another week or so. Guess I am not THAT powerful 😆

Coffee is tasting extra good this morning. Happy for no hatches though did have a brief episode while looking at an Ameraucana chick thread. I quickly averted my eyes. And happy to not have a coop build. Got three on this thread alone who got that market cornered lol. Only coop thing I am due for is a scrub in another month or 2 depending on the weather.. oh, and shade cloth replacement but milking what I have for as long as I can stand it. Yep. Bags it is...

Stan got battered by Gladys today. He had the temerity to try to mate with her. I mean, she's only twice his size and four times his age :lau
Poor boy got thrown from one side of the run to the other. It was like watching a WWF smackdown! He saw me watching and ran straight over for protection🤣
He was 6 months last week and I know cockerels can be royal pains as teenagers but they can be sooo funny too!

So cute!!! ❤️❤️

I have 17 Call ducks going into lockdown tomorrow, though I have started to slow down the turning the last couple days. In hopes that they can turn in time and hatch for me. I was turning 5 times a day. Today I have sat them where the air cell is where it should be and basically ready to go.

I was looking at little bottle fed baby girl goat the last couple days. She has problems with her front legs, and according to what she told us it was due to being cramped in momma and would heal itself with time and play. However as we talked more it was more than just that. She would need constant vet care and help. Which I would have been fine with but it was almost 4 hours away. And we really thought it best she stayed close to a vet that knows her best. Kinda weird though that after we told her it was best she stay close to her vet the add was flagged and removed. Not sure why though, we talked to her so knew she was real and seen videos, so know the baby was really due to what she was telling us and showing us. 🤷‍♀️ Anyway, we were looking at another goat at the same time. We will be going to get her tomorrow. I’m pretty excited about it. My hopes are to be able to milk my girls and start using their milk. Just gotta do some more research on how to do it right.

Whoohoo thank God thats over!
2 daughters having their first baby girls 3 weeks apart have both been "sprinkled" abundantly! Even with the delay during our mani/pedi my mom and sister-in-law seemed ok sitting through the chaos of the workers actually showing up today! Can u believe em?!
Anyway it's over with and done and I'm pooped! Gonna go sit with the babies a while and relax!
