Of course! The more the merrier!!Hello may I join you guys?
Snug is just beautiful!! Almost calico/splash like! And he’s an OD?? Such an unusual color!! I don’t think I ever replied about your info on lavenders and blues, that’s super exciting and I think you should hatch lots of OD babies till you get someIt was nice spending some chit chat time with hubby! That's a rare treat here. He's off watching sports now so I'm hanging out with Snug. He's still changing colors but starting to get an idea of what he'll look like grown up. He's going to be a subdued but colorful boy. So far he has white, buff, orange, grey, black...and his green iridescent is just starting to come in on a few tail feathers. Hoping he gets the blue and purple iridescent some of my roos do too.View attachment 3429080View attachment 3429081View attachment 3429082View attachment 3429083
Yes, I call them our tiny dinos!Tiny velociraptors! I love 'em! Great idea to help your son too![]()
They are very weird looking haha! The males especially…they have such LONG legs! Dylan is super into dinosaurs so he settled on Compy as the roosters name because he looks like a Compsygnathus dinosaur. My son who is 7…he rattles off scientific names, characteristics, habitat requirements like it’s nothing! They are weird looking but kinda cute too. I hope this all helps your son but it for sure looks like it is already going in the right direction!!
Yeah, the stick thin dino chickens just aren’t as fun as the fluffy faces and feathered feet! Can't wait to see pics! And adult time...nice!
Oh no! Super glad u picked up on it asap! Sure hope you are able to contain it!
Always! Welcome to the gang!
@kurby22 I'm like u...luv me some big beards and feathered feet! Hopefully they do the job with your son...sounds like it might be just what he needed!
Yeahhh the husband is very very annoyed but agreed because he knows this will help Dylan have his own thing. Dylan needs something of his own to feel more confident. Anytime he has to live in Aria’s shadow it turns into Aria bossing him around and telling him how he should do things! That bossy assertiveness will pay off some day but it’s no fun for a little brother! I do really like the lemon blues though! They are a really pretty coloring!Looks like you have another coop to buildlots of practice
I hope this works out for all and your son has some life long friends ♡♡♡
I think they are gorgeous!![]()
Absolutely they do! Think my gateway animal was either a German Shepherd, guinea pig or my budgie but my mom would probably argue it was my dad's English Springer spaniel which he got in his late teens. Apparently, she'd go to my mom and lay her head on mom's stomach when she was pregnant with me. A couple of my aunts were pregnant with my cousins around the same time and she never did that with them. When i was born, the dog used to refuse to leave my side and once I could crawl would carry me round by my nappy like I was one of her pups. No wonder I turned out animal crackersYes, I call them our tiny dinos! My son is one of those kids that feels very deeply and says nothing. He’s afraid to say the wrong thing, do the wrong thing…and I know if I can help him gain the confidence he will enjoy it. He loves animals differently but almost more than Aria. Right now, Aria loves animals for the joy they bring her—Dylan loves animals because of the things animals do and how they look and how they live and survive—plus the attention they bring. Here’s hoping the tiny dinos do the trick and open the door!
Everyone needs a gateway animal haha.
They're such looong looking birds! Giraffe chickens! Love your idea of getting your son involved in 4hWell today I went and did a crazy thing…but for a good reason haha. I have been trying to find ways to incorporate my son more into our 4-H stuff. He needs to build up a confidence around people and animals always help kids with that in my opinion! But he gets super nervous about handling them and I have heard from several people that Modern Game Bantams are the chicken to use for young kids in 4-H. I have had zero interest in them because I like fat, fluffy, bearded chickens! So someone was selling some today and I decided to try them out.So far it seems like a good idea! My son spent all night with the rooster while he watched TV and he never wants to do that with our other birds.? So behold—Compy, Yoshi, and Zilla!

They are soooo tiny!and weird!
Always a pleasure moving them outside!Today is moving day. From easy living in the house to the to the coop. no more coddling. They have feathered out and grown nicely. Still going to give them some heat as our nights can still get down in 20 some degree range.
Picking up 4 more Blk Aus day olds Fri that will be inside for 4-6 wks before I set a bigger brooder (turkey wire) up among the older birds for integration.
Oh wow! Have you ever taken him fossil hunting? They are very weird looking haha! The males especially…they have such LONG legs! Dylan is super into dinosaurs so he settled on Compy as the roosters name because he looks like a Compsygnathus dinosaur. My son who is 7…he rattles off scientific names, characteristics, habitat requirements like it’s nothing!
Hard to believe they come from fighting birds originally. My granddad's neighbour kept full-size Oxford Game and they were incredibly friendly, goofy birds.Yeah, the stick thin dino chickens just aren’t as fun as the fluffy faces and feathered feet! They are surprisingly docile though, very chill.
