What did you do with your flock today?

Well, today I found Stanley brooding - yes, brooding - two eggs! I can't decide if he's been watching Ferdy escort the girls to the nest box then sit with them and has got a bit confused. Or, if he's been pestering the girls so much they have told him it's his job to do it, in much the same way as we told my school friend's brother to get us some 'women's complaint lotion' from the pharmacy and not come back without it i.e. get rid of the annoying teenager for a while......

Remember a few posts back we were talking about sprouting seeds? I just got these and they are going down a storm.

Stan is certainly confused, but will you let him continue? 🤣 The girls must be snickering behind his back.

Yes, I call them our tiny dinos! 😁 My son is one of those kids that feels very deeply and says nothing. He’s afraid to say the wrong thing, do the wrong thing…and I know if I can help him gain the confidence he will enjoy it. He loves animals differently but almost more than Aria. Right now, Aria loves animals for the joy they bring her—Dylan loves animals because of the things animals do and how they look and how they live and survive—plus the attention they bring. Here’s hoping the tiny dinos do the trick and open the door! 😁 Everyone needs a gateway animal haha.
My youngest was crazy for dinos too! My kids were born so far apart that I never had to deal with sibling issues. It was more like I raised two single kids. I love Shetlands thought on fossil hunting...my youngest absolutely loved that stuff. And rock hunting!
There's some fun stuff scientists are doing trying to recreate dinos through chickens. Dylan might find that fascinating and enjoy the thought that he might be able to get closer to dinosaurs through chicken breeding!

Aaaaa! Stanley's so silly! I've seen mine prepare nests and call the ladies to them...maybe Stans trying hard to show the ladies his value!

They are very weird looking haha! The males especially…they have such LONG legs! Dylan is super into dinosaurs so he settled on Compy as the roosters name because he looks like a Compsygnathus dinosaur. My son who is 7…he rattles off scientific names, characteristics, habitat requirements like it’s nothing!
Ok that is just awesome!! I’m looking at that, and think…nope I’m not even going to try to say that. 🤣 I was in first grade and they tried having us spell dinosaur names for spelling tests. I have dyslexia and I couldn’t pass a regular spelling test. My mom kept the one test I did pass. It wasn’t until 2 years ago when she pulled it out that she learned I cheated on that whole test 😂

Ok so…first I have been wanting to do the sprouting seeds. I’m interested in doing this for them this year. I missed all of that in my absence.

Second…that is hilarious!! I would have loved to have seen this!!

Well I got my new goat girl today. I’m so excited about her! We named her Betty Boop. I told my mom that I have plans of milking her and my other girl, using their milk for…well milk, cheese, lotion, soap, etc. She laughed at me. 🤷‍♀️

I just want to not have to rely on grocery stores as much as I have been. If something happens again, like Covid, or the prices keep going up, I want to be able to pay for other things, things I can’t do at home. Just like flour for baking…I’m gonna try growing corn for that and making flour from it. If it doesn’t work than I know I have another things I can try.

Feral hen looks waaaaay better today. Her eyes are clearing and brightening up and she is starting to complain and react to me.

I have pyrethrin that I spray on my chooks and in their nests. I soak my coops and boxes with a vinegar dish soap mix, then wait 30 minutes b4 scrubbing and pressure washing but may add the pyrethrin the next time.
I like your suggestion on Captain Jack's bug death. Never heard of it b4 but it sounds great and I think I want that in my arsenal.
