What did you do with your flock today?

Yes, I am certain D would love a fossil dig stuff @Shetland lover suggested when he is a bit older, we have bought him some of the fossil dig kits and he loves those. My nephew is almost 14 and his dad took him to Wyoming for a week and he and his Dad got to actually dig for fossils and he just LOVED it. So when D is older, we will look into that if he's still interested! The tiny dinos certainly are helping him and may also help him develop more interest in chickens from that venue. He had to stay home sick today and took 2 of them in to watch movies with him! He NEVER does this with our chickens. :love
Chicken therapy at it finest. What a wonderful discovery for all!

I've sprouted micro-greens for a couple of years for mine. They are incredibly easy to do. This is the first time I've actually seen a product specifically for sprouting for chickens though. I normally have to pick grains out of their normal food, which takes bloody ages! It's reasonably cheap at £2.95 a kg. In future, I'm going to use them as a base and add some herb seeds (They love basil, coriander and fenugreek) and other quick sprouting goodies like broccoli, kale, radish, alfalfa and anything else they might like. Sprouted seeds are incredibly nutrient dense but don't use normal seeds from seed packets for gardening. They've usually been treated with anti-fungal agents to preserve them longer.

I couldn't believe what I was seeing with Stan. He's a total oddbod!

Your new goat girl is absolutely gorgeous! I can't believe how adorable she is 😍
I wonder if sprouting wild bird seed would work? My chooks love that as a treat, so maybe sprouted?

The weather is quite lovely this afternoon, so I let Pepper and Pikake out in the play yard with the others. All seems peaceful, except for an occasional reminder peck. No squabbling, or bullying otherwise. I hope the two continue to bunk together, as Pikake used to be all alone at night. Pepper has a fluffy butt again!
Also had to catch and soak Pua, and get all the hard yuck off her bum. Being a Brahma made it so easy. Not one peep out of her. She feels way heavier than when I got her back in October.
Hopefully she stays clean for awhile. Those urates are like cement!

Yippee! More have to have chicken products 😆 i will have to Google Elector PSP now.
Well, keeping her in a treated coop is better than letting her run around... I think... right? But I am sure we are just doomed and it is season and with the rain and the broodies. Not sure how the rain aide in mites other than more huddles and less dry sand baths.
This is also on my list

Another sleepy day here so worked on my beer can chicken. Today he got his tail!View attachment 3430756View attachment 3430757View attachment 3430758It’s a crazy everywhich way tail...lol. I started out trying to make neat, tidy, controlled feathers. Tried ironing the tail feathers flat so I could make each feather curl just right...then I decided that was nuts. So a wild crazy tail it is! 😃
I have one of those @TropicalBabies! It’s SO much faster!! Worth every penny 😍

@ChicksnMore i love your beer can chicken!! He’s awesome!

I can’t wait till I can say “the weather was nice” again! We just spent two very fast hours trying to do chicken chores in the mud before the next round starts in an hour.

I made a disgusting batch of warm eggs for them to keep them happy tonight! Eggs, poultry cell, Poultry Power Omegas, hemp hearts, red pepper flakes, garlic powder, Greek yogurt, parsley, topped with bagged salad greens from the neighbor and chick treat that includes mealworms and dried shrimp, seeds, and herbs. Smelled horrible but they go bananas for it! Eggs are clearly a new thing to the tiny Dinos tho—they’ve spent most of the time so far staring at it and talking to each other :) Everyone is so muddy and pathetic looking! 😩

It certainly does work. I've sprouted it successfully . It makes the wheat content a bit healthier for them too. Here, we get wild bird seed called 'no mess' where the seeds have been cracked or milled so they don't grow all over your garden. Obviously they won't sprout. And I'd advise not trying to sprout the type with suet pellets or dried bugs in them!

It rained all day here yesterday. Still haven't got battens up on the run so I spent most of yesterday clearing accumulated water off the tarps. This morning, there was so much rainwater from overnight, I got drenched trying to push it off from underneath - a cold shower was  not on the menu pre-coffee!
The ground is so soggy after the snow and now all this rain. I totally empathise with Kurby22. Mud is no fun!

Those eggs sound delicious - for chickens 🤣
Mine all love eggs and will gather round my feet and stare up at me 'adoringly' if they're in the kitchen when I use any.
Stan has recently discovered Greek yoghurt after turning his beak up at it for months. He goes nuts for it now. Weirdly, he isn't keen on grapes - I find this really odd as Pru is a grape monster and Ferdy loves his 'bed grapes'. It means he's missing a trick with the ladies as he won't tidbit with them.
I often wonder what other people feed their flocks. I'm probably a bad 'owner' as I feed all sorts to mine as long as I know it's not toxic. I think how I would feel if all I had to eat for the rest of my life was boring pellets. My birds seem to thrive and all look healthy. I don't have any behavioural issues like feather pecking and bullying. O.K, my birds might be crazy in other ways...:D
