What did you do with your flock today?

Well, I worked all day, but after work, I let the girls out to their free range area and encouraged them to help me mix garden soil. I’m mixing the native soil, which is somewhat clay-like, with the litter from their run, which is rice hulls, broken down leaves, broken down pine shavings, chicken poop (also broken down), and a little bit of grass clippings. When they loosen it up, I manually pull out the rocks and twigs. I’m mixing roughly 50/50 and hope the veggies like it. No photos today, unfortunately. But just for fun, here’s Dorothy on Sunday and the flock having towel time the week prior.

Hello! This is a place to post pictures/talk about what you and your flock have done today.

I was on a zoom call earlier and Iris, my rooster, decided to stand behind me and crow repeatedly. Thankfully I was on mute, but it was still annoying. They couldn’t see him, but they could see me trying to make him quiet, which was a little embarrassing.
Here’s a pic of my boy with some mini roses.

Wow!! Gorgeous Birds ❤️😉

Today I started making a pen (all recycled materials except the chicken wire) on wheels so the girls can spend time outside safely unsupervised. (Lots of Turkey Vultures and Eagles in my area.)
I plan to move it often to give them new ground and grass or use it as a mating place for my Rooster once he matures.
(Iris was chilling in A nest box while I put down new wood shavings)

Cute dog! 😍 What is she? Pomchi?

Prospective mothers meeting with the tribes here today. I'm not allowed to say broody. I've been told it's chickenist.:hmm
I'm not expecting an easy meeting. I'm badly outnumbered and my reasoning is suspect.
I'll let you know how they go.
