Elphie and Os escaped their run. When I found them, Os was hanging out by the door, Elphie was standing in a shallow water bucket, and Iris was trying to bathe in the corner of their run. XD
I was going to wait to lock them back up until Iris was done, but that turned into them free ranging all day. I also let Yen and Gary out, and they were all exploring the yard and having a good time.
There was some fighting, but nothing major until Puff Puff found the new girls. She was pecking on everyone a lot, but at one point she got in a really big fight with Os (who’s normally pretty mellow) and got her comb torn up. Os somehow managed to escape with only a few missing cheek feathers. After that, I locked Puff up so everyone could get a break. Even the top hens were nicer than she was, but that doesn’t surprise me. Puff is a monster. I’m pretty sure she’s one of the only hens I’ve actually considered rehoming.
I didn’t want to spend the day in their faces taking pictures so I didn’t get a lot, but I did get a few. Yen and Gary are really hard to photograph, but I love their color. They’re my first birds in that shade.
Geralt and Yennifer:
Elphie:
Watson:
Iris:
Oh! I forgot to mention this, but yesterday Iris was waiting by the chicken door when I let them out. He couldn’t make it out himself, but it’s definitely a start. I’ve been having to help him off of the perches recently. And both Yen and Geralt climbed on my lap for the first time today.
I didn’t soak Iris today, but his feet still look about the same as yesterday. I guess it’ll take a while to notice more changes since it was a pretty bad infection, but I can’t help but be impatient.
