What did you do with your flock today?

I had been checking my chickens butt for the past few days because I had been seeing a 'bump' on one of theirs.
today I checked again and looked a bit under it and there was a gap.. turns out the 'bump' was the outside of their vent  and I was looking at the vent the whole time panicking as to why they had a bump on their butt
im so stupid:th
Definitely not stupid! There are a lot of things to learn about chickens and @GoatsandGuineas is right, you were doing all the right things to care for her. Now you have the info needed to help her! :)

I love all the space you have! I can't wait for the day when I will have all the
Then your husband will complain as much as mine does lol. Well, only when he needs something to pick on... but did you notice I said I went to pick up bator w/o him. Ugh, I did not feel like taking Nancy with me. I have a dream bator situation going on in my head. VERY excited.

I am heartbroken about Bolt and Co. I did not need to happen. I had given these kids many big warnings about dogs as I always do but even more so these two because of who they were taking home. Like all young and beautiful people they were like yah, yah we got it. I guess only people who have suffered or have come close to these kinds of losses know what it feels like and the extra precautions on tip of extra precautions need to be taken. Yeah, it is a whole thing that she and her family have to contend with. The loss, the heartach and guilt and the drama. Feel bad for the whole thing. Miss the birds and sad they were scared and hurt.

We shall see w/ the crosses. I did have FTT and Bumpy to deal with.. oh and Nancy dh. 🙄🙄🙄

I forgot to say how envious I am. I love your truck! The double tool/utility boxes have got to be just super super handy. Plus you've got the roll bar installed. Awesomeness! 😍
That thing affectionately known as Fred is awesome and perfect for pets, in-laws, kids, dogs and yes... CHICKENS! cages fir in back perfect and boxes help protect. Big fan of side boxes myself. Thanks for noticing my sweetheart ♡♡♡

Me and DH made it up to Koke'e yestermorn to clean up a large fallen branch. Such a magical place and I enjoy any excuse to go up.
Came home to empty my feed into the fresh washed and dried feed container and almost stuck my hand in to put back scoop.... 😬

Harmless but scary.
Today DH and I are working on house chores. I bought a used chicken bell on ebay. I will train my chooks to come to the bell. 😉 but it is also for my grandkids and charm.

I also sifted 1 tray of my mealworms and cleaned out non-viables. Chickens loved that.
Opened up the coop for FTT to escape and she stayed. Lol. Think she likes NOT being picked on by EVERYONE and thing.

Happy Aloha Friday all!!!

That spider is disgusting. 🤢

Keep us updated on the bell training! I’d love to hear how well it works and how fast they start responding to it.

Today I built a nest for the chicks. It’s made out of random scrap pieces I found under the house so it’s definitely nothing fancy, but it’ll get the job done. XD

It’s a little smaller than the other nests, but not by much. If it’s too small, I can switch it out with the Poles.
The poor babies are still terrified of the coop, more so now that there’s a “scary box.” I’ve been trying to put them in when it’s daytime, and therefore they can see there’s nothing to be scared of, but I don’t think it’s helping. They’re going to be really upset once they realize they’re getting evicted in a few more days. :/

Hello! This is a place to post pictures/talk about what you and your flock have done today.

I was on a zoom call earlier and Iris, my rooster, decided to stand behind me and crow repeatedly. Thankfully I was on mute, but it was still annoying. They couldn’t see him, but they could see me trying to make him quiet, which was a little embarrassing.
Here’s a pic of my boy with some mini roses.

What about you guys?
WELL!
it isnt really today as such, more last night.
So my two ducklings are 7 and a half, and 8 weeks, they live in my room at the moment, in a spacious pen, when they arent free roaming or in the bath.
Last night, for seemingly no apparent reason, Sprightly, the youngest, woke the household with a very loud "QUACK QUACK QUACK QUACK QUACK"
I'm not sure what she managed to spook herself with, I really dont know, but I immediately turned the light on and checked on her, she hushed as soon as she saw me, and came over, I lowered my hand to her, and she pushed her face into my hand, insisting I reassure her with gentle face and neck strokes.
She enjoyed the attention for a few minutes before she calmly walked away back to her sibling and went back to sleep. What the fuss was about, I have NO idea but I have just accepted that I dont get peace and quiet anymore 🤣🤣🤣

God I love those crazy birds
