What did you do with your flock today?

Oh I think my colors are fairly mute compared to what I have seen on this thread I was almost considering getting me another blue egg layer just to jazz up my bowls. But thanks for thinking so ♡♡

I'm keeping the brave admirable people of Ukraine in my good thoughts. I'm staying humble and laying low.
Just got back from eye docs and she said I can't play with any tools and horses for at least 3 weeks. seems I made my eye mad at me refinishing the deck. oops. Still grateful. I have so much to be grateful for. Blessings all. Stay well.

Today my dad and I started working on building the new aviary. We had a late start, so only wood got cut. I’m hoping to go out early to start painting it, but I’m not sure if that’ll happen yet. Either way, tomorrow is going to be full of painting, measuring, and more cutting. I’m hoping this thing will be done by Monday.

I got to spend lots of sun time with the birds. Both of the babies got turns sitting on my lap, but neither really cared. Cher didn’t want to be away from Sonny, and Sonny prefers to sit on my shoulder, where my hands can’t get her. XD
Sonny did end up living up to her name and sunbathed on me. <3 her tiny little neck feathers spiked up everywhere. It was adorable.

Iris also got lots of love. His foot still looks absolutely awful, but he’s been acting so much better. The past few days I haven’t been able to sit on a chair outside without him quite literally flying on my lap. Even if he wasn’t broken, he’s still wayyy too big to be doing that. For a bird his size, he’s really fast. Took me a few tries to get him off of my lap and out of the chair before he jumped on my again. He’s very persistent. XD
I ended up just taking him into the sun and he fell asleep for a long time. I love sitting with him, but man, he always looks and feels really dead whenever he sunbathes. XD

I got some pics of the pigeons + babies, but I’ll have to check what I already posted.

I look forward to seeing your finished coop and photos. You are very creative and I enjoy seeing what you do. I'm sure you will not disappoint!

Oh no!! I though Iris's foot was on the mend. Gulp. It has been a long hard go of it for you guys. Im sorry. I hope that beautiful boy has a turn around soon.

Oh man! You need to keep your eyes! Take good care of them! I too am keeping Ukraine in my thoughts and hoping the World steps up to make this stop!

May I recommend getting a few cream legbars? They’re really nice birds. And they lay blue eggs. I bet they’d look great with the rest of your flock. : D

Thank you so much!! The design isn’t all too special, but two of the walls will be solid. Depending on how rough the wood is, I might paint some fancy designs on it.

His foot has been pretty touch-and-go. There’s no scab, but it’s realllly swollen, and no amount of meds/soaks will bring it down. Poor guy. Thankfully it doesn’t seem to bother him too much, but he can’t really walk long distances. I’ve been tempted to just man up and see if I can cut it out, but I think the last time I poked around too much it made everything worse.

[My Very First 6 Chickens]

Hello! This is a place to post pictures/talk about what you and your flock have done today.

I was on a zoom call earlier and Iris, my rooster, decided to stand behind me and crow repeatedly. Thankfully I was on mute, but it was still annoying. They couldn’t see him, but they could see me trying to make him quiet, which was a little embarrassing.
