What did you do with your flock today?

Maybe you just have a few who like to hatch Hawaiian style ;-) Soo cute 🥰
I'm sorry you didnt get more, but if my count is right you got 11 out of 18 so far, right? They're so cute:love

I can't wait to see them when they're in the brooder and all fluffed up.
Oh, they are still hatching... just thought they would make a big show and I would not have to wait all day for them 😂 My lousy cryptic writing again. 🤦‍♀️ waiting on a pip and a zip and then if the coast is clear I will move the hatched to the brooder and let the 2-3 eggs have some peace and maybe make it out.

Goldie is understandably lonely. There's only so much time I can spend on the bathroom floor and Eidlog just isn't much of a conversationalist. Today was only supposed to get to 52, but it reached the low 60s and nearly all of the ice has melted. Which means slush everywhere. I spent my day digging trenches to try to divert some of the water. The run and chicken yard were pretty ok as trenches already exist there and I had laid down a lot of hay over the past two days. But the front yard was gross. If tomorrow reaches the mid 60s, I'm going to transfer Goldie to the outside crate so she can get fresh air, sunshine, and visitation with her gang.

The new ODs are outside now and SOO happy!! They almost immediately started foraging and dust bathing 😍 They seem to be getting along super well so far with the other littles. I sat out there with them for awhile but got too hot! So I am going to join them later this evening and keep an eye on things with my magical camera 🎥 hehe.

I candled my eggs and actually saw one of the baby chicks feet 😍 sooo cute! Pretty sure I was looking at the head and beak too 😍

Oh wow! That's so fun seeing the little dinosaur inside it's shell 🥰

And I bet it's such a relief that the new guys are settling in well with the others.

Get the spray and she can go back to the coop.

Poor Iris. I really hope things get better soon for his foot.
Thank you! I hope so too.
Oh they are just lovely! I have a twin of yours, my GLW. Confirm that comb for me! Is it a cushion comb?? Thanks for sharing! 🐓❤️
Thanks! Yeah, I think it’s a cushion comb. Good eye!
They are! When they are happy they squat down in front of me for a little back scratch! Only when they are happy with me tho. Its so funny!
She’s beautiful! My first Wyandotte had a single comb. After her, all the cushion/rose combs look a little weird to me, lol.

Yay for fluffies @TropicalBabies !! Keep the pictures coming! I can’t wait to see yours too @pennyJo1960 ! Makes me want mine to hurry up and be done cooking too! 🤪

How’s the weather today @GoatsandGuineas ?? Your ladies get some sun and warmth at all? How is Goldie?

@FrankieDoodle I hope Iris starts turning a corner! Is he on any antibiotics? It sounds like maybe there’s still some infection in there somewhere perhaps?

I picked up my new coop today! I’m not sure I will set up the run for now, gonna see how things go with just the coop! We might take the automatic door off the run and install it on the big coop instead! I also carried the thing into the run and decided I don’t like it there, so we have to move it again tomorrow 😆 The husband already bonked his head once…he’s gonna love doing it again tomorrow 😆😆 Can’t wait to move the new chickens outside tho haha…SO over the indoor crowing and dogs trying to eat the chicken poo inside the crate!
Thanks! He’s been on-and-off Baytril for about a year or so. It really helped him that first time, but hasn’t done much (that I can see) since then. :/
DONT DO IT PJ!!! 😂 it def is not worth it.

I have to quit looking (but last I did it was 3 hatched, 8 pipped and they were drying out and getting cute) cuz they get all crazy with the light and start knocking eggs... so, I better let them nap and let nature do its thing without me interfering.
I went to put up a new overhang covering on my brooder. Then DH took it down and put up a tin roof and then we had to tie it into the shed so it did not tip the now top heavy brooder over. Looks pretty wonderful and secure but not cleaned. I still have 24 -36 hours to get it together lol. View attachment 3006864
Hows this catio action?! So worth the weeks worth of effort and the doc visit ♡View attachment 3006866
That looks great! The kitty looks comfy. ❤️
Good morning gang! Happy Aloha Sunday! View attachment 3007331
I did a pretty good job of not hovering over the eggs this time and got to wake to this. Not as good a show as I had hoped but today is 21. A glitch I noticed this morning is my bator was reading that this is day 3 of hatch... A while back my lovely DH -when I was up kokee and SPECIALLY ASKED him not to touch bator 2Xs- flipped the thing upside down to empty the shell fragments when it had water in it. Like the biggest no-no ever. Well it dried out and a few days later when I could form sentences all seemed fine but my last hatch was bad because I had changed my settings and forgot to change them back for 2-3 days. Lost all but Manono and well, we see how that is going. So, this has me worried. Well, a few more hours of labor to go...
Neat surprise. May have a guy coming to pick up Koa who's bump was down even more yesterday. I gave the interested person the rundown on Koa and guy said he had a separate pen to keep Koa till he cleared. I think Koa is ready to get out of that pen and start chasing girls. So I am happy about this. I'll give him another check see this morning.
Well, time to get my groove on ( clean and set up the bator lol) I'll check in again in a bit. I joke you all are enjoying you day.
So many babies!! Congrats!
Hey all turned wet in the night here .. Great photos all good grief .. I lost my blue EE she was the youngest of the banty failed to thrive was her poor girl just small could not do it...
I’m sorry Penny. :(

Well, it looks like my plan to get the aviary finished by Monday was way too optimistic. : (
Two days and now most of the painting is done. Room helped me with that, otherwise I’d still be out there.

It was a nice day, so in between coats of paint I took pics of the birds. I didn’t get pics of them all, but I got quite a few. I was hoping to get some of Renie, but she made herself scarce. I haven’t gotten any good pics of her since last August/September. :/
I did get to hold her a few times. She doesn’t normally like to be held, but she climbed on my lap. She’s really soft, so it was nice.

The babies, who are almost 10wo now:
