What did you do with your flock today?

I don’t think I’ve posted more than just the one pic of my new babies. I’m putting them in a spoiler since there’s a lot.

Since this is our first flock...ever...and we wanted chickens for so long - we are prone to just sitting in the run and watching them be chickens. Or really, baby chickens...still growing up!
Same! We have coffee with the chickens every day! PXL_20220508_194802312.PORTRAIT.jpg

On a more positive note, Cher laid her first egg the other day.

It’s the small one, obviously. XD The one on the right is from one of my sapphire gems.

The pigeons have lost most of their fuzz. I’ll have to get updated pics soon, because they’re growing like weeds. ❤️

Iris is back on meds/bumble treatment, although I’m hoping I just have to do soaks and tweezer removal, no actual surgery. I guess we’ll see in a few days. Poor guy also got dusted today, so he hasn’t been very happy with me. :/ I think he cheered up after I gave him his meds disguised as oatmeal.

Renie is broody again. I kinda wanted to stick the chicks under her, but the last time we tried that a year or so ago it went pretty badly. So, no chicks for her. XD

Also, I don’t remember if I mention this yet, but the Polish hens are now free ranging. They’re handling everything pretty well, but I need to look into the possibility of trimming their hair a little bit. They can’t see me enough to move out of the way when I walk past, and I’ve accidentally stepped/kicked them a little. If they can’t see more than my feet, I know they can’t see any predators, and I just had a falcon fly into the main coop (no one was hurt) so they’re getting more bold.

@room and I dusted the chickens yesterday. The pigeons had mites, and while I cleared those up pretty quickly, I found some out on the pigeon perches while I was holding Iris and sitting next to them. I figured if it got on him, the mites would get on everyone, so it would be safer to just dust them all.
For 18 birds, it honestly didn’t take too long. We had to re-dust a few birds, but for the most part they were pretty good.

Hello! This is a place to post pictures/talk about what you and your flock have done today.

I was on a zoom call earlier and Iris, my rooster, decided to stand behind me and crow repeatedly. Thankfully I was on mute, but it was still annoying. They couldn’t see him, but they could see me trying to make him quiet, which was a little embarrassing.
Here’s a pic of my boy with some mini roses.
