What did you do with your flock today?

LOVE the tutu ♥︎
Love the new coop!! Most exciting 😄!!!
Just love your zoo @ChicksnMore I could wander all day, everyday. So glad you have helpful family close by. I'm sure it is a lot of work to keep all that beauty well cared for.

Yestermorn was wash the ponies so I could put the 1 new fly mask I purchased on lol. Then we played "who wore it bettter" with Cisco and Hombre.View attachment 3172881View attachment 3172882
Looking like Zoolander blue steal posing lol. Yes, I ordered 2 more as their other fly masks are beat.

I let Beetlejuice out with the flock. Been wondering and worrying about doing my intro of him right, as I want him to be perfect and all to be perfect so I can keep 2 roos harmoniously 😂. Being I will go up the mountain soon I had options and choices... I just decided to try and it went well so I opened BJ's door a little earlier today. I'm pretty happy about what is going on. He is a keeper (so far)

Finished yesterday with big hedge trim and clean. Our community did a big beautiful block party at the community center instead of the fireworks that we have traditionally done for a decade + and they had terrific live music that we easily heard while working. I'm am SOOO darn happy with this shift. I hope it was wildly successful and will be repeated every 4th as food and blow up party rentals for the kids and families seems SOOO much better than terrorizing our animals and neighborhood. Don't get me wrong. Not all is quiet. People are letting off plenty fireworks at the beach- not legal yet, but no enforcement- and dog, after being medicated and thunder vested is still sleeping on top of our heads shaking in the late and early hours. Tonight I take him up to spend just a few nights and days. Poor baby Elliott.View attachment 3172898
Obviously neither dh or I OR Elliott slept well last night or the night b4View attachment 3172901
Awww poor puppy dog!! Looks like you DH was very comfy too 😆 The block party sounds awesome! I do love a good fireworks show, but hate all the random neighborhood ones that start fires and scare pets :-( Last year my mom lost part of her fence thanks to a neighbors errant firework starting a fire in the tree next door!

We have had a glorious vacation filled with sandy beaches all to ourselves, and only the sounds of the ocean at night (some pics just for fun at the end). We have seen famous Castroville artichokes, sea otters, harbor seals, sea lions, deer, bunnies, hawks, pelicans, cormorants, an opossum in our garbage can, chickens on a boat, and two CA Spotted Owls that left their pellets everywhere so we brought some back to dissect! 😍 It’s been such a nice break! The new pet sitter has done a great job it seems as no animals have needed vet visits and all the chickens seem to be alive and well. 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 She checks in at each visit so I don’t have to worry ❤️

Happy 4th of July all. Hope you all had a great time celebrating ❤️🇺🇸

Got home from running some errands and wanted to do a few things when I got back to see if it would rain or not before taking the littles out. Around here they keep telling us how there will be rain and there is nothing. But all the littles were out of the brooder and setting on the outside of it. Not really sure how it happened but it did. So they are outside now. I have to watch them cause the top of the run isn’t secure and we have a small section left of the run to do.

We will probably work on the rest of the run and the coop today at some point.

Take that back. Maybe the owl poop is the real shocker. Look at all those little bones! I'd love to hear more about who's bones those are. Very interesting and I'd never have thunk it! Makes perfect sense... just never thought about such things. So cool!
I know, was super interesting! 2 owls, 8 pellets, and over 30 skulls in the 8 pellets! The size of the skulls are the size of field mice. Since we were staying in Moss Landing, which is near Castroville and Watsonville the mecca of artichokes and strawberries...I am most certain they are eating well and making the farmers happy! :D

Ugh, well...going on vacation was bad for the babies that hatched right before we left :( They apparently didn't properly learn to eat and the chicken sitter didn't know any better...and I believe the little OD baby died from starvation :( The Spangled baby is now sitting with me and I am feeding her egg yolk every hour....I'm hoping I caught her in time. She's attacking the syringe with vigor, so I know she's hungry poor baby!! :( Fingers crossed!

Can't remember if I posted it or not... lol

Yesterday I noticed when I let me chickens out I was missing a rooster. Sometime between the last time I saw him and shutting them in at night (2 hours) he went MIA. Usually I count the birds before shutting the coop but last night I didn't. He was one of 8 that was going to be butchered in a few weeks. I am thinking it was a hawk/eagle that grabbed him. I don't feel too bad because he was the skinniest rooster and wouldn't have been good eating.

Oh I'm so sorry! Not a good way to come home from vacation! Hopefully this one makes it!
