What did you do with your flock today?

Yeah n it's not like ya can spray anything cuz it is in the coop.
So I guess he's gonna have to climb back up in there and get it down without getting stung!
That sounds awful. I've never dealt with wasps...wish I knew someway to keep them from coming back for you! Have you tried googling to see if there's a way to keep them from returning?
I am not a fan of wasps at all. 😬 Mean, mean, mean little creatures.

Well chicks are still hatching so I decided to let them ride in the bator for the night and go down early and get them all sorted in the brooder. May put a few chicks and unhatched eggs under Pukalani to break her fake egg broody early.

Hope looks a tad better this eve. She got a mealworm treat along with her diced meat and tomatoes. I'm hoping she does not lose an eye at this point. 🤞🤞🙏🙏 My poor baby ♡♡♡
Such good looking chicks! My incubators are all shut down and it feels weird...lol.
Fingers crossed for Hope also 🤞.
Yesterday I went to get the chickens out of there coop and the sky was just beautiful!

Then throughout the day, I was running around like a headless chicken. I came home after my daughters practice and the sun wasn’t down yet or even close. But I noticed that their coop door flung shut (we need to add a latch at the top so it doesn’t keep doing this). I thought oh I will get it in a little. Then it was dinner time and still light out so I thought I will get the chickens after I eat. Well it got dark and I forgot I didn’t get them put up and forgot I didn’t open that door for them 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ It’s just been such a mess of a time. Well I got them in the coop and counted them. I kept counting 17, which I have done before and all 18 were there. So I kept counting, looked under the coop, no chickens. Went in and counted again. 17 still. I thought ok, she had to be roosting somewhere. And as I’m thinking “there is really only one place” and that’s when I seen her. There is a rip in the red canopy and she flew up there for the night. I got her down and got her in the coop. I feel so bad. I hope things start to somewhat slow down.
I'm such a fan of sunsets ❤️. Sunrises I'm always busy and for me are more about listening to the world wake up. But sunsets! That's a quieter time and all about the visuals.

We've probably all had something like that happen at least once...it's ok. ❤️ Hectic times and all! Hope things normalize for you soon.

My youngests best friend just started college. She carved and wood burned a little statue as a birthday gift for her friend ands leaving on a bus this morning to visit them for the weekend! Her first trip without family beside her.

Wanted to share her carving...I thought she did amazing for a first time effort!

(I use my egg basket to transfer). Looks like 14 out of 18. 4 rsl's did not hatch,, thought they would be a little better. On inspection I saw one had pipped but was positioned wrong and did not make it ☹ I candled the other 3 and they look like late quitters. I have long suspected the hatching wrecking ball but I can't be certain. Hopefully -and I am going to work hard to make it happen- I will get my brooder station set up and my other incubator up and running so I don't have to jam pack my rcom.
Gal comes and picks up her 15 on Monday & and I am short on my last hatch. Faith is due next week. She is doing a terrific job ♡♡♡

Incredible!!! ♡♡♡ I just love it and it's a great share 😁

My sweet Hope. She is so funny ♡♡♡
I bring her in at night and then out on the porch during the days. I'm sure she wants to be with her flock but I can't risk it.
I think we are making SOME head way... not a lot and much slower than I want of course. I think the infection is in/under her second eyelid. I keep dosing with Tylan, cleaning and packing with neosporin hoping the infection will peak and I can once and for all clean it out but this has been weeping and slow... I was using antibiotic drops but Neosporin seemed to be able to draw the infection out better.

I have not dropped her for worms yet. I was a little hesitant as it seems to burn the eyes a little and I thought the antibiotics were kicking in but this morning she seems to have leveled out again.
I forgot them down the hill, so after I mow I may ride Boo down and pick them up along with a chick check and an oil change 😉 and fresh chicken feed.

Look at all those sweet fuzzy faces :love I just love the down coloring. It's so pretty! And so cute all crammed in a little basket! Yay for Faith! I wonder if I will ever reach a point where it's easy to sell baby chicks...I always want to keep every one of them! I've done much better selling hatching eggs so I don't see the cute fluffiness until it's too late hahaha. :)

You really need to move to a bigger property and just sell free ranging eggs ♡♡♡ That is the "job" for you lol.

Sometimes I do feel bad if I don't know the people but as I have progressed so has the networking and many people are recommended and many times they are going to a much better home and are making a family super happy.

The family that is buying these babies are down the road from our Koke'e cabin. He is a contractor and we have been discussing coop builds. These littles will have a beautiful coop and lots of admirers. I'm excited for them. Also a few are going to a repeat customer and I am vetting a gal for the clutch Faith is sitting on now. I love getting photos and videos of the chooks and following their journeys and helping out when needed. Not as cool as having you gals as neighbors but I meet some- mostly wonderful people ♡

They can find the craziest of places to park it for the night!!!
The other night I was running late...can't remember why. I hate I have to count em now...that's when ya know ya got too many!
Anyways couldn't find the 2 silkies...they both look like they got stung by a bee and then hopped into a light socket so can't just disappear! I looked and looked and looked...I mean unless a critter found a way in, ate em and then got back out there was no sign of any fowl play (lol).
Kept looking and calling then I heard a chirp...they were behind a straw bale cornered in behind the edge of the brooder and the 4x4 framing of run!
Never a dull moment with babies!

@TropicalBabies I hate Hope isn't doing a lot better by now! But those babies are too stinkin adorable!!

@ChicksnMore I did find this promising info on ole Google!
"Most wasps will die during the fall season with only the queens surviving. The queens leave the nest in fall to find an overwintering spot and go dormant once the nest is no longer viable."

Hope is such a pretty girl. Have you heard of terramycin ointment? It's a wonderful antibiotic for treating eye infections ands still sold over the counter. I believe you can even buy it on Amazon.

I hope I develop a network for selling. My networks all based around giving or trading and I'm still finding giving birds to people I know a bit more comfortable then selling. I want to go nuts breeding dwarfs though just to see what variety they produce, so I know I'll have to get better at it. This year I still ended up giving away more then I even tried to sell 🤷‍♀️. But I did sell enough to get a new incubator at any rate.

Done! I have heard of that off and on throughout life and these pages. I was hoping someone would chime in with something I missed. Thank you! Just what I needed. May even have some in the fridge... will go check today when I drop the mower. Till then I wait the few days for Amazon. 👍

So I pretty much only mowed the lawn or half of the lawn yesterday. The other half is too rough with the pinecone, pine roots and pig divits, just better to weed whack. I had to take the rear left wheel off and clean out all the muck after the gears got clogged with delicious organic muck from the front half so took longer than I had hoped.
Paying a little price for not listening to my DH and bringing up ramps 🙄 back is a tad off.
Spent much of the day sewing after that.
Yesterday's highlight was the flock all over the yard especially after the mow. Good to see them feel relaxed and stretch out. And Spider's feathers are starting to fill in. We also don't have a second crower anymore up here after taking the three down. Gets me to worrying about B all over again 😂
