What did you do with your flock today?

Chick starter doesn't have chick grit in it. It's formulated to be digested by the chick without it. I'd get chick flint grit asap too. He/she does sound like they might be struggling to poop a bit. Has it been pooping regularly prior to now? As an aside, while Ferdy wasn't ftt, his crop is on the right too and it's never been an issue for him. I agree with Kurby22, I think a big factor on ftt chicks surviving is how strong the will to live is. All we can do is support them to the best of our abilities. We have a product here called 'Digestihealth' it's a prebiotic and probiotic in one and I use a few grains in chick food from day one. The whole flock has it mixed in their evening meal and it's all but eliminated digestive problems in my lot. It's used by commercial chicken farmers over here. Maybe you have something similar you can add?

She's so pretty! You'd never know she'd been ftt looking at her. I love her Columbian type markings. All your chickens are gorgeous. What breed are they?❤️

I'll try to get some pictures of Ferdy's feet and legs when I let him out this morning. Any suggestions gratefully accepted! Hopefully he'll stay still enough to let me but he's always so anxious to see his ladies - he seems to have the chicken version of 'morning glory'!

Just out of curiosity, do anyone else's roosters join in with the egg song? I swear Ferdy is louder than all the girls put together and seems to lead the chorus :D
Here's some photos of Ferdy's feet today. I think there's bumblefoot starting on his left foot, note the black/grey spot on the fleshy bit under his middle toe. The red has me stumped as it looks inflamed but isn't any hotter than the surrounding skin.

Anyone have any ideas?

@TropicalBabies Manono is beautiful!!!
What is FTT?

Edited...duh failure to thrive
Right?
I'll put the grit in this morning!
It's will to live has to be fairly strong cause I had moved it over to the basket with the wryneck chick underneath the heating pad and I came back in and the runt was gone! I panicked looking everywhere! Even checked the cats! Nothing!
I got to looking in the brooder and there it was back in the brooder with the others!
It had to have climbed and jumped in order to do that!
Fingers crossed! If it has the will and energy to jump and climb, there's definitely hope! :fl

And it's not blood? I'm sure you already checked that but how it is on the edges of the feathers there makes it look from pic like blood.

@Shetland lover what cute little spurs and feet Ferdy has ♡ it does look a little irritated. Found this little read on byc.

Post in thread 'Why are my roosters getting blood red legs?' https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...rs-getting-blood-red-legs.723653/post-9947435

Does he pick at it (did you mention and I did not catch? Sorry)
I have had REALLY good luck with slathering Vaseline on the legs. If he has the beginning of mites it will kill it but I have found it works as a wonderful conditioner. The dirt sticks and they look ridiculous for 2 or 3 days but then they look like they went to a spa.
🤔 Maybe... I should slather myself in Vaseline... at least my hands and face lol

Happy Sunday all!
Yesterday I scraped boards and filled feeders but forgot waters till the later noon. Poor babies. Well I keep 6 waters in the run and garden but have 2 big bowls in the yard that are always freshened for the cats/dogs/chickens so all survived, just inconvenienced.

I let Share out for a bit but Beetle was putting some moves on her so she went back into hospital. Today I will put a cage on the ground for her so she can safely be a part of things. Depending on her energy. Looks like the needle entrance has been weeping. Don't plan and don't think she needs further draining for awhile if ever. I am really surprised she has done so well. Such a tuff and amazing gal ♡♡♡

I got caught up on some bags so can do some painting and then finish the stand build. Then off to the humane society! Goat bags are cute.

Made DH's belated b-day dinner last eve. Today I will make his belated cake. -I'm pacing myself 😂- Before the day gets too muggy.

Got a few photos of my getting big littles.

☝Baby Kurby ♡ she is so sweet.
And 👇 my unnamed princess (because she is Princess Peaches daughter).

Pretty sure the BR next to princess is a boy as the girls seem to loose their barring because of the mixed breeding but this one has not challenged it peers, the bars seem mottled and it has girl legs, not wattles. I'm obviously just dreaming 🙄.

So Billy passed yesterday morning. He had a mild seizure and just never came back to us.
His urine, blood, x-ray etc tests came back fine. X-ray showed some liquid in his left lung lining a few weeks ago but heart etc looked fine. However his electrocardiogram showed severe abnormalities on his right side heart. Probably congenital. They do the x-rays from the left and that's the side that normally has problems, so it's been missed at every vet appointment. The other vets said they could maybe hear a level 1 heart murmur but it's so mild it wouldn't be causing all this. Anyways...his heart was too far gone and there was nothing we could do to help him except to make sure he died loved. Which he did.
We buried him in the garden near his favorite sunning spot and planted a chaste tree over him.

Kimi's heartbroken of course. She's loved a lot of animals, but Billy and her had a special bond. That little boy lived for her. He slept all the time and only came alive when she came home and then he'd cry like a baby from he moment he heard her truck until she picked him up. And then cry some more if she set him down. He's leaving an awfully big hole behind.
Anyway, he was 14 and though it feels too soon.. he did have a good life.

ok...I'm done with the Billy flood. He will be missed.

Oh gosh, I am so sorry. Big hugs to you all as it is obvious Billy was special to you :hugsSo, so sorry Kimi 😥 Hope time helps to ease the huge loss of a fuzzy baby who was so important and needed.
I am really glad you all had a holiday adventure together. It must have meant the world to him to get to travel along with the girls. His last big job of keeping you all safe.

Love Billy's final resting place. Very fitting for a pup so great 💐🌻🌼🌻💙💙💙
