What did you do with your flock today?

Everyone’s pretty good! I adopted a new pigeon, Pretty Bird, a few weeks ago for Big Bird. Now I’m just looking into another buddy for King Louis.
The newlyweds, Mr. and Mrs. Bird:

She’s a feisty little dude, but I can really see a difference in BB since getting her. He’s so happy now, and is back to sitting on my shoulder and preening my hair. ❤️

How about you, how is everyone doing? Anything new?
Hey there ... absolutely LUV this thread! Met some most amazing sweet folks on here and truly care!
That lil girl does look feisty!!! She beautiful!

The fence saga continues.... We've had escapees for the past two days. Not fun to come home and have to hunt for hidden chickens in the cold and dark.
DH put another barrier up today so no getting up onto the run, and then out. Test #3 today.
So sorry, @ChicksnMore for your loss. It is never easy to see a loved fur baby (or feather baby) depart, but may all the fond, beautiful memories comfort your family.
How did test #3 go?

Pretty bird is beautiful! ❤️ Can't wait to see the babies they produce.

Thanks to everyone for all your caring. I have to admit that staying positive is hard right now, no matter what logic says. All your words help. ❤️

And so do chickens. So this morning I found myself pouring over chicken pictures, assembling chick orders and barely keeping myself from hitting that finale button to order. I behaved! No new chickens coming 😇🤣🤣 But ... lavender Orpingtons and Splash Americanas are to die for and definitely on my maybe someday wish list 😍❤️😍❤️😍❤️

Instead, me and my oldest are going to spend a little time running around picking up wooden pallets and crates. Theres a business here advertising for people to please come take it away. I'll use them to build a dog house for the big dogs and the last bit of coop work I want to do. Maybe last bit? Hopefully last bit. 🤣 The crates look like they'll make great easy up and reconfigurable nest boxes.

I'm supposed to go help a friend build a pig pen. She kindly took in a stray pig that showed up here a while back ands starting to regret it. I think I'll have to put that off until later this week though.

I love my 3 Splash Americaunas! I’m hoping to hatch some of their eggs but fear the cross break. All my Americaunas are beautiful but I just love the Splash. We cleaned up some of the torn down barn yesterday for the Brahmas I want! I was looking for babies to purchase but I couldn’t find a place even taking orders for Spring yet. Kind of a good thing cause I’m 100000% positive my husband would have a mental break down on me 🤣

Beautiful babies and thanks for checking in. So happy you are doing well and you have new additions and new happiness.
You are missed on your thread lol.

Everything is new! Life is good ♡♡♡
Thank you!!
Did you ever find out who the mystery crower is?

I don't pop in often anymore (although I really need to get better at checking, lol) but I agree, everyone here is always so nice!
Thanks!

Thank you! Me too. I know both of BB's parents, but PB is another rescue, so I have no idea what her genetics are like. I really want to hatch their eggs, but I just (almost) finished pairing everyone up and I don't want to do it again for a while. Maybe in a few years, lol.

I'm so sorry to hear about Billy. He was adorable. :hugs

Yesterday, my helpers and I planted our second soursop tree (for 3 total). They got paid in a few BIG FAT grubs, I got paid with the satisfaction of a job well done, shade and future fruit hopefully.

Tuesday I have a gal coming to pick up 3 pasture cockerels. That is big and I am happy as she seems like a pretty cool chicken gal. So, today I gotta go down and trap me some pasture cockerels. They sould be easy as they are mostly very friendly.

Got the bags finished and my sign logo painting almost completed. Will have them pau and ready to install by this afternoon. So, another stand down and delivered by... Wednesday?

Yesterday my husband and I got a lot done. One of which was getting our dogs whelping box done. We have about 9 days until we are on puppy watch. 12 days though until her actual due date. But with how much smaller she is compared to others her breed (she is the runt from her littler) we aren’t sure she will go until her actual due date, she may even go past. BUT we are ready!

We fixed the chickens coop roof. After the wind storm came through we had some shingles that blew off. We also started cleaning up the old barn next to the chicken coop. Which is good cause that is one step closer to my Brahmas but also my chickens are loosing their BIGGEST wind breaker. But I added another trap to the North side. Hopefully there is enough of a windbreaker between everything that they will be fine this year. I can’t even go by what others have done here with chickens because it has been YEARS. And anyone around us with Chickens have plenty of wind breakers. It is honestly so flat I don’t know how well this winter is going to go.
