Yesterday, my helpers and I planted our second soursop tree (for 3 total). They got paid in a few BIG FAT grubs, I got paid with the satisfaction of a job well done, shade and future fruit hopefully.View attachment 3315792
Tuesday I have a gal coming to pick up 3 pasture cockerels. That is big and I am happy as she seems like a pretty cool chicken gal. So, today I gotta go down and trap me some pasture cockerels. They sould be easy as they are mostly very friendly.

Got the bags finished and my sign logo painting almost completed. Will have them pau and ready to install by this afternoon. So, another stand down and delivered by... Wednesday? View attachment 3315801

Yesterday my husband and I got a lot done. One of which was getting our dogs whelping box done. We have about 9 days until we are on puppy watch. 12 days though until her actual due date. But with how much smaller she is compared to others her breed (she is the runt from her littler) we aren’t sure she will go until her actual due date, she may even go past. BUT we are ready!

We fixed the chickens coop roof. After the wind storm came through we had some shingles that blew off. We also started cleaning up the old barn next to the chicken coop. Which is good cause that is one step closer to my Brahmas but also my chickens are loosing their BIGGEST wind breaker. But I added another trap to the North side. Hopefully there is enough of a windbreaker between everything that they will be fine this year. I can’t even go by what others have done here with chickens because it has been YEARS. And anyone around us with Chickens have plenty of wind breakers. It is honestly so flat I don’t know how well this winter is going to go.

These are my 2 Splash Ameraucanas girls. Of course you all have seen my cockerel. And maybe these 2 as well but anyway I love showing them off. My family thinks I’m silly for the things that I do and how much I talk about them…

I just love the coloring of each one but I have to say the 2nd/3rd one is my favorite looking.

They are adorable with those big cheeks!!!

I cut the bottoms off first, shake the junk out, flatten, cut to size (+ 4.5" bottom & 2" for sewing & from what I want to see on the bag) turn inside out and wash with a soapy micro fiber towel, wipe dry with a bleach water rag.

Kind of wrinkled but will straighten out.
The gal who helped we saws she washes in a bleach water solution... I'd like to know how she does that. I am really limited on space. My chickens have taken it all... including the back lanai. I don't think your silly at all @FBMcrazy8 lol

I LOVE that bag!!! So cute!! We still haven’t heard anything from the guy that wanted to get rid of his 4 goats, even though they can’t keep them from the road… Maybe they will wonder their way over here and never want to leave . I love seeing the different bags you have compared to the ones I see here.

Oh we can not wait. I think our 2 year old knows too. He has been EXTRA lovey to her and is wanting her to sleep with him. Which he has ALWAYS loved her but this is different.

It’s going to get down into the 30’s at the end of the week as a high here. And that is without wind chill. 20’s at night. I don’t know if I HAVE to put Vaseline on the chickens combs or if I really need to. There is really good ventilation but with how cold it is, is what worries me. Do you “wrap” your run or do you just put up something for your windbreak? I don’t want to wrap mine, I just want them to be able to be in the run without the North wind getting to them.

Thank you!!! I have 3 Easter Eggers with puffy checks and also a Blue Ameraucana and Lavender Ameraucana. I want one like this, an Ermine Ameraucana. They are just beautiful!

I have clear shower curtains I'm gonna put up on the south side of the run this time...just hadn't gotten it done yet. Our house is on the north side of the run so that will help. But DH said the south wind is what we get mostly.

Ours seems to be a mixture but we normally get either Northern or Northwest winds. But since we weren’t really here last winter I’m not even 100%. I might go ahead and put some on the south side too. Clear shower curtains is a great idea!

I have to agree! I love my French Black Maran! When she runs it looks like she is wearing bell bottoms! I just love it!!! I wish my other 6 weren’t killed but I am going to get a few more in the spring.
