I wish I'd thought to take away eggs when we still had pigeons...we might still have them if I had! Ours started with one rescued male who brought home a wife when we tried to release him.I don’t, they’re all just collecting on my counter.I’ve blown a few of them out for fake eggs, but I need to do more now that I have a few extra layers.
Yeah, I’m sure they could. I never like eating quail eggs back when I had them, but the size made them pretty good for egg washes.
Although unlike chicken/duck/quail/etc. eggs, pigeons only lay after mating so I feel a little weird eating them. I know it’s pretty much the same as all the others, but I just haven’t gotten used to it yet.![]()

I like the idea of egg washes. All the ways I like quail eggs involves peeling teeny boiled eggs and feels labor intensive.
4 hours! I would so love that. I tried ordering chicks this spring and ended up never getting the babies I wanted. I ended up with a lot of dead chicks and a lot of wrong breed that I gave away. It was the worst experience I've ever had with mail order chicks.I hear ya on that. I at least give my husband a break from building coops…probably a nice thing I can do. I just want the Brahmas in their own thing. I checked Cackle at the beginning of November and they weren’t yet….all the ones I want though are pre order available now. That’s where I have gotten all mine so far. I like that it is only about 4 hours away from me.
My Cackle order was perfect though!
