Oh my goodness I got my new brushes and pens in today! So. Much. Easier.
The one I am finishing up now is almost exact. I did add- "Give a little, grab a bag" to both boxes.
The black is a chalkboard paint so I can chalk in a suggested donation but was thinking maybe I will just leave it up to the people. Probably make more $ that way and certainly get rid of more bags so win. These little stands are close by home so easy to check and fill.
K. Don't laugh but I did not get the KCCP logo centered for some reason. Not sure what happened lol.

Well what a couple weeks!!!
Finally got the pot roast started in the crackpot for DH to have something to eat...forgot to ever do any veges with it or go to store and get what I didnt have. But atleast it had fresh dried herbs all over it and was done by time he came home!
I used leftover liquids from it, heated em up, and used em in the chickens mash for a warm breakfast...man 2 of em luved it so much I'm not sure their hair (head feathers) and beard will ever look the same again!
It's in 20s here (UGH!) and the grease from the liquid dried all over their hair and beard! Making them look quite hideous and comical!
Mom still stubborn as ever...fever off and on but refuses to go to dr unless they are doing her surgery. I've tried to tell her idk how many times that they will NOT do surgery with any kind of a fever at all! To be 69 she's acting like a 2 yr.old! Surgery is set for 5am day before Thanksgiving. Guess I'll be getting up at 3!
Got 4 layin now! And frozen eggs...do I just throw them away? 2 d'uccles (Gabby and Cathy) are laying and using the new nesting box! Then Lizzie still drops it wherever she feels like it, oh me. Then Daisy laying in the coop consistently in same spot. I can live with that.
Idk what I'm gonna do bout the cruise coming up with all this going on and all these babies! And all this friggin cold weather! Makes chicken keeping much more difficult!

It's still gorgeous...the off center is very slight! You're inspirational...I'll have to store the idea away for when/if I ever get caught up with my life.

Well @ChicksnMore , I used to cook for a family crowd because no one wants to cook. Because of pandemic I just gave plates and it just seems so much easier. The aunt next door passed about a year ago so now I just make a plate for the cousins across the street. They love it as she does not know how to cook. I love making their day

That is so sweet. I've spent almost my entire life with no relatives within driving distance. The huge family Thanksgiving sounds delightful but I'd never thought about it from the work perspective. Lucky cousins you have there!

Hahah yeah, although unfortunately her looks are decieving. Despite being almost 5yo she’s still a little dumb lolol.
I’m feeling really badly for her. I want to help her but that’s so hard to do when no one knows what’s wrong. : ( She was able to eat almost an entire egg by herself, so at least there’s that, but she can’t see too well anymore and so it took her a while. : (

Poor poor baby. Sounds like old age catching up to her. I'm glad she got to eat another egg...that's definitely a favorite treat for chickens everywhere.

Any pictures of the chicken monsters? That sounds adorable I save frozen eggs for pet treats. We had a bunch freeze in the fridge when the temp got tweaked. I threw the whole frozen eggs in a bag in the freezer and used em up in no time. Sorry about your mom and hope it goes well in all ways with the surgery. When/where is the cruise? Hoping your headed somewhere toasty!

The spider bites healing fast. The hand sized red area now looks like a fading bruise and it's just the pinkynail size center hole that's being grumpy. It's healing yet getting bigger even as it heals . Don't think it'll get too big.

We lost the unnamed white baby duck last night. Think it inhaled water somehow...it started very sudden and ended quickly. Not sure how that could have happened but the behavior looked like water inhalation. They have a milk jug with a hole just big enough for their heads. It was the smallest but not a big size dif. I wonder if it's bigger siblings climbed on it while it was drinking and trapped it's head in there somehow. Might need to rethink their water.

I’m glad your feeling better. But so sorry about the duckling!! Poor little baby!

So Marble is starting to lay soft shelled eggs. I have been providing oyster shells this whole time, and crushed eggs shells. Of course they eat the egg shells but not the oyster. And my silly cockerel is eating the egg shells and I’m sure some of the oyster shells as well. Of course they get grit and it can be found in their run. I’m half minded to just give them layer feed because he is eating the calcium anyway. What good is it doing me to think about him and his needs if he is going to eat the thing I am trying to separate for his health. Honestly, the hens are laying eggs and if he is going to be silly than I’m just gonna start giving them layer feed. I can’t monitor him all the time and I have watched him really eat most of the calcium supplement. Such a silly guy!

I do layer feed for all my chickens. I've read how it's better for the roos if you don't, but our girls lay year round and, I think, work harder then the boys. I haven't had any ancient roos, but several ancient hens... and the roos live as long as my average hens.

Literally just got back inside with 18 month old from checking on all my babies ...NOTE it is barely 40° here.
All a sudden I hear all of em sounding the alarm..."Bockin!" Like crazy! (Do yalls make that sound all together too? Mine have never done that til this group! )
I go out on deck and see man behind my neighbors yard beside my fence and trying to explain why he's back there...and I couldn't hear a thing he said cuz they were bockin so loudly!!! They gonna get me arrested! Lol?
He was delivering a package and neighbors dog got out.
Nice to know my babies know "stranger danger!" though! Lololol

I have all kinds of stages of kids, hens, pullets, cockerels, molting. Had mixed flock crumbles and oyster shell available, with the occasional smashed eggshells, which they eat first. I have seen the laying birds eat the oyster shell. Just this week decided to mix in the later pellets with the crumbles. Still get an occasional soft or no shell egg. We'll see.
