It was a bit of a mess when we picked it up (and a really weird brown colour) but most of the wood was solid and no ply or chipboard anywhere. It has a pull-out metal lined poop tray so it's really easy to keep clean. I converted a 6x4 greenhouse for it stand in so it keeps the weather off which helps a load.Out of these pictures I think it is in really good shape!
DH panics if I walk past a charity or junk shop. And he's virtually having kittens if i spy an antique place...My mom AND dad have that problem. But I get a lot of good stuff out of it. I got a whole hay rack FULL of baking and cake decorating stuff. My step dad only spent $1 for it all!I have to refrain myself. There was an incubator I was trying to get but it didn’t state if it worked or not. And it went for about $35. And I didn’t know if I could get it working if it didn’t work so I back out of it.
Thanks!I wish I had something for you for Molly! Im so sorry! I also wish there was more information out there about chickens in general! Sending you lots of positive thoughts for Molly!
Thank you! I might take you up on that, lol.Did you check if her joints were hot, FrankieDoodle? And would you like me to ask on my course if anyone has any ideas about Molly? I'm really sorry to hear she's not picked up any![]()
Thank you! He's getting a lovely blue/dark grey sheen on his neck and saddle feathers but the photos didn't pick them up.He is pretty!!
Of course I will. Have you tried very gentle massage and physiotherapy? Peggy (the ex-batt on top of the coop in my coop photo) had osteoporosis from being a caged hen. She went off her feet a few times through injury and as she was a big 'ol unit, found it hard to weight bear on her legs.i had to be super careful due to the risk of fracture but it seemed to help her recover enormously. I also used to bring.her bestie, Connie, in to cheer her up and it seemed to encourage her to be a bit more active. Just an idea.@Shetland lover if you get a chance to ask your vet school friends a question for me—could you ask them how long after the dermatitis has cleared and the skin has healed might the chicken start to recover physically? I worry every day that she sleeps versus getting up and moving her legs more that she’s not recovering and trying not to give up and stay positive! She’s got plenty of sass and is eating more which is a good sign, but I was hoping to see more attempts at walking again. Thanks!!
Well then you did a FABULOUS job! Too bad you didn’t have any before pictures! I would love to see that!It was a bit of a mess when we picked it up (and a really weird brown colour) but most of the wood was solid and no ply or chipboard anywhere. Yeah, I’ve been moving things gently and massaging the upper knee area…I can feel her using the muscles up top but not at the ankle yet. I’m sure it takes time for everything to rebuild and function again. Might give her an Epsom soak too!Of course I will. Have you tried very gentle massage and physiotherapy?
