What did you do with your flock today?

The current situation this morning. Power out at 1:20 am as I was ready to sleep. So glad my electric blanket had warmed the bed up by that time. Making tea this morning, no coffee ground.šŸ˜¢. At least we can make a hot breakfast if we want. Looks like about 3-4".
Iā€™m sorry your power went out! Nothing worse than the power going out with it being ā€œwinterā€. Even though itā€™s fallā€¦ technicallyā€¦

Still no power, my house is 55 deg. We do have a fireplace, but the big TV is on a table in front of it! I may have to move it myself and get a fire going. DH took us to breakfast. Staying in my ski pants and double sweater today. The sun is out, melting snow off the trees, and yes, it does look beautiful, unless the glare hits your eyes while driving. Today is refill feeders day. It's up to 38 outside. DH put tarps over the run yesterday, so maybe with the dry weather this week the mud will dry up some. Thankfully the water bucket doesn't freeze up.
I hope your power is back on now!

Oh he is handsome @triciayoung . Looks like a terrific set up too. Welcome to the thread!
@Gammas Bearded Babies welcome back ā™” did you have fun? Glad your flock is good. Yeah, bringing in the fake eggs is a thing šŸ˜‚ too cute though.

@Shetland lover I am really interested in the dosing. It seems ot can be difficult to find or a lot of conflicting info on dosing being it is off lable use. Can you PM me or group with any info you feel comfortable sharing on dosing?

Oh poor @kurby22 . I hope she is documenting her adventure. Rooster in a house, chickens in a car... all good fun! ā™”ā™” šŸ¤ŖšŸ“

@FBMcrazy8 it sounds quiet miserable weather wise. I hope you put cameras on your Christmas list soon. That way you can check w/o breaking doors or freezing or slipping on ice!! etc. I absolutely live my Blink that I picked on sale. They are battery powered so that made it easy for me as I only have an extension cord (so far) to the coop area. I can check temperature, listen and talk along with spy, can move with a few screws... super easy.
I may have to look into this one! I have a baby monitor that is AMAZING but has to be plugged in but does everything else yours does. Plus I have security cameras that I could use but again they need to be plugged in. And again, I can do everything else though šŸ˜”. What you have would be perfect. I just hate the idea of power cords running all the way out to the coop.

Brrr! Hoping your powers back and that you and DH got some cuddle time in front of a hot fire to help you both keep warm.

It rained all day here and probably tomorrow too. We're decorating for the holidays this weekend and tonight we'll watch our annual Xmas movie....Die Hard. šŸ™„ We've watched that movie while decorating for 30 years now. I think all of us know half the lines by heart. šŸ˜‚

Hope everyone's warm and happy this evening ā¤ļø

Power came back on, then off, then finally on from about 4 pm. No fire, no cuddles. What an interesting choice of movie for your decorating! A classic, for sure. DH does Uber so he was off rescuing people. Roads were ok, main ones anyway...
Refilled feed, and then spent an hour + wrestling snow off the tarps on the run..Snow had weighed it down, so the slump and sticky snow, well, you get the picture. Dead leaves were also keeping the snow on top of the 2x4 fencing he had used as well.
We had gotten 3-4" last night, and it was the clumpy, sticky, good for snowball and "Would you like to build a snowman?" kind of snow. Not melting very fast. Still going to be only in the 30's for the next several days, maybe more snow tomorrow. This is unusually cold for us here.

Snow is lava to the chix, They have decided it is ok to peck at, but not walk on.

True. The meteorologists said it's meteorologically winter. That's a mouthful. Instead of being inside, decided to go and do chick chores, and get the snow off the run, fix the bent fence roof.. Actually worked up a sweat. Power was on when I got back inside. Yay! No internet, though.

Well Paso Robles is short on pet stores with fish antibiotics. :-( So Tylan it is, until Monday when we head home. Sheā€™s not visibly worse but also but better.

Poultry show went well!! Ruby was one of 18 bantam Buff Brahmas and won Reserve Variety! My dā€™Anvers did okay, but were in varieties of their ownā€”they were the only black or self blues in the show. So win by default. Was a fun day and we are all exhausted šŸ˜©šŸ˜“ We also left with a new breeding pair of bantam WHITE Wyandottes. Aria is thrilled! More all white chickens! I added a bunch of highlight pics (sorry I donā€™t know how to spoiler all the pics for the thread to be shorter šŸ¤Ŗ) for you @TropicalBabies šŸ˜‹
