What did you do with your flock today?

Yeah that's my concern as well...and the fact they keep changing it for worse conditions is beginning to freak me out.
I was down observing em all earlier...my d'uccles (namely Gabbie) is all puffed up and just sitting on the quilt rack perch in a corner. She's always been a loner but makes me wonder if she'll be able to handle any colder or not.
@AngBantamLuv has been concerned bout hers as well.
Hum...what to do what to do!
I know locking them in the coop during the day with 3 boys raring to go is not gonna be good overall.
Can you lock your boys in and bring the others into the garage? Im setting up the brooders today, putting the chickens in tomorrow afternoon before the winds get going. They won't be happy, but i have snacks lined up for them!

Yeah DH is already saying absolutely not.
It took me thinking Mango was frozen solid and not moving last year when we had a major quick freeze for him to help me move em all to the garage!
DH is a bahumbug bootyhead! Sometimes lol
Idk what I'll end up doing

Edited to reflect latest windchill will be 20 below zero...wind gusts up to 60.mph...ugh

I hope that she will be ok!! Maybe with how cold it gets she will snuggle up to someone!! I don’t want to lock mine up, so I will probably leave their door open so they can go in and out as they please.

This is what the temps look like now for Thursday and Friday. I guess I just wait until tomorrow what the wind is going to be like. It keeps changing I don’t know they know for sure.

Could you try going out after dark and moving her up with the others? I've done this before with loners. Move her up and stay a minute while she settles.

I feel for everyone dealing with the storm coming. Hope everyone's ready and hope it's less then predicted 🤞

She was doing that this morning.
I got the other large side of run wrapped with tarp.
DH said we could run and get few hay bales to put below the coop to block the wind down at ground level since that's the only open area for most part now.

Well, I went out to check on eggs and found ANOTHER egg that became frozen and cracked. This “new” layer has been laying longer than I knew about..obviously. 🤦‍♀️ I’m gonna have to pay attention to that now that I knew where she is laying her eggs.

I got the goats tarps up so they have a wind break now. Fingers crossed all of them make it!! Going to be giving them scratch in the morning and more than likely at night about an hour before bed. Morning to get them moving and at night to keep their body temps up through out the night. Oh and red pepper flakes….

Well, I get mother of the year.... 🐥
Went to water a plant in a pot this late afternoon. I water it good but b4 turning off spicket I pick up the over turned big water bowl that is stationed on that corner.. I have bowls of water and waterers everywhere, so one down is not big thing but I pick it up and there was a buff chick stuck underneath it. I have no idea how long she was there... could have been hours 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ though I thought it must not have been too terribly long because it moved quickly away and did not run for food and water immediately but honestly, If I had not gone to water that one potted plant with that hose and had the time (because I was really short on time) to turn that thing over I cringe to think... terrible. Chick stuck under a bowl. Who would have thunk it?!

So today is my birthday 😁 29yo since your curious 🤥🤥🤥 lol.
Anywho, had a great date. I made penne pasta w/ Zucchini, mushroom and Parmigiano while DH cooked us Ono. We quickly packed up our dinners and took off on our bikes to Mana and had a picnic, standing up while eating with chopsticks. It was one of the most enjoyable meals/times/view I have had.

We actually parked close to where his dad grew up. The house has been relocated and camp long gone but the 2 Mango trees that were in their backyard and that his dad ate from and played on as a kid are still there.

The history, good company and vast stillness made a perfect date. 5 ☆ forsure.

Happy birthday! What a lovely day you had ❤️. Sounds like my kind of birthday. DH took me to see snow leopards for my birthday, I've never been so excited! Those mangoes are huge and very beautiful. I do love trees though.

Wow! What a lucky chick! And a lucky escape for it too. It's amazing you decided to set the water bowl right, it would have been easy to just water the plant and ignore the bowl.
