What did you do with your flock today?

In an hour we have dropped to -26 with wind chill. We are only half way to what we can see for temps. This is just too much crazy. I’m expecting to see some losses from my animals. I think if I think I can keep them alive I’m setting myself up for failure.

I did get the ducks more bedding today and tried to block off the area that some snow was getting into their coop today. I don’t know what else to do. I guess all I can do is hope that they can get through the next 24 hours.

So your dh took you to Asia?! None in captivity right?? Wow ♡♡♡ that is very grand😁😉 We're you able to spot any?!
Not Asia unfortunately, just 50 miles up the road to Northumberland zoo. They have the only snow leopards in captivity in England? They were absolutely magnificent!

I'm keeping everything crossed that all your animals come through this o.k.
I'm stressing out for you

We are setting at -26 degrees still. Good news….snow has stopped for now, bad news…the temps start dropping ridiculously. I think I’m more worried about my chickens being in the snow and the wind rather than just temps. I’m hoping that they make it but I would be lying if I said I wasn’t worried. I am up to 8eggs laid today so there is a positive. I had to put plastic up in some of the ventilation because of the snow coming in. I didn’t staple the top of the plastic just so air flow could still move there to the ventilation I didn’t cover but stop the snow from coming in. I also did this to the duck coop cause there was just so much snow in there coop. I guess now I know what to do when we get this kind of weather again.

On top of everything else I’m worried about, our heat, hot water, and stove is propane. We called to have more delivered last week and on Monday we checked and we were only had 10% left. So we are kinda freaking out. Luckily I have other ways to cook, like pressure cooker, microwave, crock pot. And we have electric heaters to keep us warm and a kerosene heater with clean burning kerosene. It’s just the fact that they still have delivered propane. 😭😭 I can’t bake cookies or do any holiday baking because we really need to save it for the heat. We were hoping the would deliver it before this weather hit but that is wishful thinking. Last year we fought them to bring out propane too. They are ridiculous.

It’s just so hard to get into the holiday spirit with all this going on and then some.
