What did you do with your flock today?

Over here in the tropics I am enjoying a beautiful pink sunriseView attachment 3356888
Chooks are out chasing the Christmas lights already 😂 kind of like the dog catching the car.
I'm 2 boys lighter today and it sounds great. Normal. Nice. Both boys were well homed and I could not be happier. I've made new chicken people friends. ♡ bye bye chickens!View attachment 3356893
After being in town yesterday I am looking forward to being home and catching up on a few things.
A super big treat for me last eve was all chooks where they were supposed to be at bed time! Spider and Beetle have grown closer and with more respect fending off the new genes of Santa. They were roosting pretty close together. Spider with his select few of refined ladies, Beetle with a big handful of silly girls. It was very fun and charming to check in on them last eve and I look forward to more normalcy. Though, I will miss Santa... ❤🎅 and the little cuspid. View attachment 3356910
Your island pictures just make my heart happy 😍
@FBMcrazy8 and @Gammas Bearded Babies I am in awe of your fortitude to keep all your outside babies safe and warm 🥶🥶🥶 Sounds as stressful as my summers with 110+ weather! Constant checking, constant worry, only so many things you can feed and water them…blah! I LOVE my cold weather but that’s just WAY too cold! :-( I hope today is better!!

@Shetland lover I too LOVE snow leopards and go to our zoo specifically to see them! The family gets annoyed because I spend forever watching them and they get bored 😆 Soo pretty. 😍

I managed to find my holiday spirit enough to wrap a bunch yesterday and sort of decorate the tree. I usually do three times the amount of decorations, but waited too long to make it worth it! Today is a cookie exchange and then football 🏈 😁😁

That looks beautiful and so festive! ❤️
Thank you! For myself it is for sure lasting today and it is supposed to be a tad warmer tomorrow. If 8 degrees is warmer 🥶 with 21/22mph winds.
Still way to brr for me! I wanted to move to Alaska when me and hubby first married, and I've teased him for years that he must've only heard the A's and took us to Arizona. But yep...I'm sure glad not to have to deal with all that. Our summer heat has its downsides, but I'm definitely past the point of wanting to trade it for cold.
Hoping Christmas is warmer yet for you!

Ugh I just feel helpless....DH won't let me bring em all in and idk what to do bout frostbite.
I think the summer was easier than this...atleast easier on me cause I could sit with em. I liked to stayed out there too long walla go cuz my breath made ice on my scarf! N my toes are still numb.
I only gave then the option to go out in the run if they wanted to...it is wrapped all the way around.

I’m so happy you found them a home! And of course more chicken people. Beautiful boys as always!

I think that it might make it worse putting anything on the combs. Only because we are beyond freezing. I read in an article a while back that frostbite is a right of passage where they live. Unfortunately I’m going to have some lose their combs because of frostbite. They are the same ones that decided to stay out in the weather ALL DAY and NOT go into the coop, not even once!

I can see how Arizona heat is hard! It gets WAY too hot down there for me. Granted I think I could do better in the heat than the cold but still…it’s all rough! And thank you! I do hope for a warmer Christmas…even if it is just about 10 degrees..

Ok guys, the update of the century for me. Obviously ducks and goats survived. And I don’t think I’m taking them out today either. They are going to have to live in the kennels for just a little longer. The chickens are ALL ALIVE! 😓 I’m exhausted but I feel accomplished. I can’t say I won’t have frostbite get to a few of them but their coop stayed at 0. There was snow that came in and I cover up those vents. So basically ALL their vents are covered….expect I left the top of the vents open, so air could still come through and well no air was being pushed out really but was so they still have some ventilation. I know how I’m going to do this next time. I have a plan. I thought I had it figured out when it snowed last because the only snow that came in is from the front ventilation. I have that figured out but I wasn’t thinking with these high winds how easy it is for snow to come right on in. I have to go remove some snow later today but I’m not too worried about in the bedding as there isn’t a whole lot and it won’t melt anytime soon. But I’m going to have to replace that bedding. And the bedding for the ducks as well. I have a plan for them next time as well. I think that the goats were well protected but because they are babies they just couldn’t do these temps.
I'm so relieved everyone is o.k. I can't imagine the stress you are all under :hugs

Yeah I did not take into consideration the blowing snow at all! I hadn't gone down to look yet but my boys are doing their usual so that's good! I'm trying to wait for the sun to come up as the winds are still fierce.
The coop did get to -2.6°F
Lord please let all my babies be ok!!!
Gonna make em egg casserole today and some warm oats with banana.
Silly me forgot one of my jugs of water outside...smh
Fingers crossed for your babies 🤞
