What did you do with your flock today?

No heat is great as heat usually means infection or tissue injury. Have you tried cleaning out the open area with a syringe full of saline? It'll ensure there's no debris in there to create a breeding ground for infection and help you get a better look at what's going on. Is it a deep wound?
I wouldn’t say it’s deep by any means, but it is kinda big. It’s more superficial. I can feel the swelling going down, at least on the bottom it does. This is the best picture I could get of it. He is standing on it more and has been crowing ALL day 😂

@ChicksnMore they are too cute! And that green grass!!! Beautiful!

@kurby22 praying yall don't get hit too hard!

@FBMcrazy8 hopefully he is doing better today! Mine have all had really weird water poops too but then normal too so idk what's going on with em.
Yeah 2 of my girls pooped like water out today while I was out there. But I’m pretty positive it is because they haven’t really eaten. They didn’t go outside yesterday even though I opened the door for them. Today they started doing the same thing and when I seen they way they were pooping, I was just like yeah no, not happening. So I I literally picked them all up and put them all outside by the food. Some stayed, some went to the water and some went back inside, but I did see them come back out. They literally do what the Rooster does. Since he isn’t there to go outside and when he was and wasn’t going outside, they wouldn’t/didn’t. I’m mind blown 🤯. I had a talk with them and I really don’t think it went as I was hoping but I basically explained we don’t need men to do things…so let’s get it together ladies. I got 7 eggs today so maybe I did get somewhere 🤷‍♀️.

Well I rushed around today preparing for the new weather that just arrived…this is what’s going to arrive by 2:30 am. @TropicalBabies you really didn’t need to share! 🤪😋

Coop clean outs, rain tarps, filling rat tunnels, topping off waterers and moving them under protection so they can use it tomorrow without too much exposure. I also raised the ground coop up higher off the ground to minimize mud and water in the coop. I’m exhausted haha. I am supposed to go up for NYE to stay at my moms in Boise on Friday, but with all the Southwest cancellations and chaos I will probably be changing my flights to later in January and staying home with my babies so they don’t drown!

Hope everyone had a lovely Christmas Day with your family and/or friends ❤️ I know Miyuki is sure enjoying today…while playing vet hospital with my daughter 😍😆

First, that has to suck!!! All the rain we were supposed to get has lessened to only a couple days rather than a week. I hope everything goes well! It sounds like you are ready for it!!

Second…. :gig :lau I just love the look on the cats face!!! That is just too cute!!!

So my little guy is walking around a lot better but it’s still swollen. He is eating really well considering and he is drinking. Poops are good too. I took a side by side picture of his feet. Still no blackening so I’m guessing it had more to do with the wound on his foot than frostbite.

Miyuku is clearly living her best life right now! :lau
I panicked a little when I first saw the photo. I thought 'poor Kurby! What on earth has happened now?!' Glad to know all is well.
I know right? What more can go wrong? 🤪 I have three in the house in ICU right now…but two may be ready to go back outside tomorrow. Nohope is still not comfortable standing but he does manage to move across the couch to be next to me when he wants, so he’s got promise. He also seems 100% healthy other than his legs now. His poop is more solid instead of runny, he’s eating and has more appetite, he’s crowing in the house 🤪 and today he was grooming Millie while she hung out with us. She was all fluffed up and shivering yesterday so I chose to bring her in knowing today would be cold and wet. She’s much happier today and seemed happy to see Nohope. ❤️
O Miguki looks adorable 😍. Made me remember when my oldest was little and would use a pen to pretend to give the pets shots. Then she'd comfort them and tell them it's all over 😂.

That storm front is going to roll over us too. Rain predicted for the next 3 days! I have to spend today getting our water tanks empty to catch the coming rain. All our plants are still well watered from the last rains though, so think I'll deep water a few of our trees that can handle it.

Hope the rains kind to you and yours. Hope you had a wonderful and sweet Christmas too!
Yeah, Miyuki is the most patient cat!! She complains but she never bites, claws or runs away. Weirdo 😆

Yeah we got 1.5” of rain in last 24 hours and get a reprieve until Thursday, and then three more days, a break and then rain as far as forecast goes out 😩 The dampness is already out of control! Everything everywhere is wet. I built them all covered areas with tarps so all but the dumb boys stayed dry. I know we need the rain desperately but man I wish it didn’t come in these huge chunks at once! Not to mention the wind gusts!

Hehe I know! I just had to get a picture 😆

I found coop plans that made me feel confident I could probably build without screwing up TOO badly…so I think we are going to take down my original prefab coop and replace it with something more solid and waterproof.

I’m not going to stop worrying until that coop is gone and all these mysterious lameness issues go away. I knew it would be temporary but didn’t know it would cause health issues! For the type of coop, I’m really happy with it and the quality…I just think it was a poor match for my soil drainage. Anywho, it’s been fun looking at ideas for ways to modify the structure and it will be way cheaper than the fancy built coops I hope 😆 I am trying to decide if I want to just make it simple white with black trim and door, or if I want to add some color! Bright teal blue or Kelly green or yellow! Or maybe white with black trim and a yellow door. So many ideas! I found sticky linoleum tiles with black and white patterns for the flooring inside too! I’ll probably be on here complaining about it real soon 😆 Planning to start as soon as the rain lets up!

Todays chicken shenanigans!

That looks a whole lot better than it did and good news the swelling is reducing. Great, too, that he's using it more. I'd just keep doing exactly what you're doing :)

Oh, they are so gorgeous! 😍 I'm so pleased Nohope is doing better, here's to his on going recovery! 🤞
That coop looks great! I'd be hopeless at making something like that. I'm fine at small repairs but anything more complicated- nah!

@FBMcrazy8 I'm so glad you caught his foot issue when you did! I'm horrible with adult feet and being able to identify a problem vs normal unless it's gushing blood like Joey's has been when he knocks off a toenail.
Speaking of ole bootyhead I was luving on him yesterday and got poked really hard and looked and his spurs are ginormous!!!
I didn't realize they would just keep on growing and getting pointyier!

@kurby22 I'm so sorry yall are having such wet conditions. Nohope is gorgeous!!! And I'm so jealous of Millie's feet feathers!!! All my d'uccles feathering on their feet are breaking off and I don't understand why!
Bluey is the only one with ginormous feet feathers and not a one is broken!
I even accidentally stepped on em yesterday and he just stood there pulling n grumbling til I realized I was on his feet feathers lol.
That coop does look nice too! And colors...OMGeeze I still hadn't gotten mine finished painting!

Ducks had their garden time and I walked them out to the pond. They start out so calm and serene.View attachment 3359436
Then they explode and go crazy for a bit. All three are in all the pics..but you can't always see them 😂View attachment 3359437View attachment 3359438View attachment 3359439View attachment 3359441

Clive is the colorful one ands always been more mellow. The two whites, Chubby and Peeky just go nuts though!
Your babies look fabulous, healthy and happy in their habitat. What a treat!

I have not heard you mention snakes in a long while. Sorry to go to the negative 🤦‍♀️. I was just wondering if they attracted to that gorgeous little pond of yours?

Really happy to hear about the chicken health upswing @kurby & @fbm. Love when things head in the right direction.
