What did you do with your flock today?

Oh I forgot to tell yall....(sorry depression has been really bad this week) but Lizzy laid her first egg in quite a while and it was perfect! No calcium deposits! And had a perfectly good nice shell all around it!
Super proud of her recovery!!!
So in light if that do yall still think I may be dealing with IB?
Yay for Lizzy! ❤️

It's been raining hard here for the last 15 hrs and has caused some pretty big puddles to which the ducks are ecstatic. They are grass surfing as we speak.
The ladies are not having as much fun. They are 10/10 not impressed.
Went out and lined the coop, run, palace with straw and bedding to make sure they have a large dry area. In this process, learned a funny fact.
Wanna heard a bunch of selective hearing hens? Walk up to their area with an umbrella. Don't even have to walk in. You don't have to point it at them. Poof gone.
Got the visual 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 made my day!

Yesterday dh and I rode our bikes up Koke'e to refill bags and buy a shirt for my Maui son. I like to bring up my own Piñata scratch w/catfood in it (high protein) because of the lack of bugs up there. It gives the wild chooks a healthier snack than the cracked corn they sell at the lodge for the tourists. I remembered there are sometimes a few Batchelors in the back of the park, walked and saw these guys

Dropped domestics looking lost and hungry.
So today I drove my truck up and did a rescue mission. Basically open my small cage and threw scratch in it and then shut the door. 2 walked right in and they were H U N G R Y.
Then took them to the trailer coop and set them up with food and water.

Sweet young boys. Will put an add in to see if I can't find them homes if not, at least I can provide a bit safer one for them.
I'll head up on the bike in a day or so to try for the 3rd roo. He is older and sketchy-ier so may take some time. I can at least give him better quality feed.

2 cockerels gobbled up lots of food, still a little stunned with their luck. Food, water, a roof and easy hop roosts.

Feral rooster let me know he needed feeding too.

I love that you do that! Sometimes I wish I could find the dumped animals and do this for them but then I also think, I’m glad that there isn’t very many animals like this getting dumped. We see more dogs and cats get treated like that around here. We actually have a little girl kitten (she is probably close to a year old) that was dropped off here. We have fed her and she is sleeping in our shed next to the house. We know someone had to have dropped her off. There is a few cats that roam around out here but they are only around in the Winter months. She is different, she isn’t lovable by any means but she is hanging out and the others won’t sleep here.

Anyway…Good job! Bless your heart too for going and taking in more little guys! You’re an amazing person. I hope you can get the last one!

Yeah the little cochin fellow I just sold was a hoot and a half! His crowing all night long, I guess trying to establish himself in the flock, was driving me crazy! My little girls haven't gotten as much personality just yet.
What ages are yalls cochins?

I haven't got a clue about any of it either! So yall ain't alone! Lol

Me too!!!
A military airplane was really low going over and mine all went poof!
Luckily he didn’t crow all day but in quarantine…in my house…They were ALL crowing at 5 am. And if I had to get up to deal with the puppies and needed a light…they were crowing for another hour. They hatched in March of last year. So they will be one year old next month. I don’t have an exact date but it’s better than nothing.

Mine like to jump and freak if the wind moves the tarp just right. Which in a few more weeks I should be able to take the wind breakers down.

I have no idea about the IB but I hope not. It is great she laid an egg! Super awesome news!!

Definitely not alone! I tend to say "if I understand correctly" a lot because...well, I often get it wrong 😁.

I'll do a hatching post tomorrow...today I've had a couple drinks and I'm a wimpy light weight that rarely drinks... 😂

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Reminds me of my one horse who's terrified of umbrella's
Your good!! I know the feeling! I don’t drink very often so it doesn’t take much for me either. 🤣
