What did you do with your flock today?

Looking good with the mini coop @kurby22 . Cute as can be!

Super sorry about the mishap @FBMcrazy8 . That is hard. Oh well. Deep breath. Move on.

Yippee! @Shetland lover . Most exciting. Thank you for sharing your wisdom as always. Hope you get good marks.

Wish we were there to help @Gammas Bearded Babies ♡ I'm sure we would laugh lots but get it done quickly. Got any progress photos?

Hows the yokos @ChicksnMore. Any more thoughts? How's the babies? ♡♡♡♡

That's looking wonderful! Are you making a closable window for this coop as well? All I want to work on lately is my new coops, but I decided to use asphalt emulsion on the outside and it has to have 50° or higher while it dries. Too cold for it still ☹️. You'll have some cozy and happy chickens in there soon ❤️
Thank you! Yes, I made the window openable, but still working on how to keep it open…I have a couple ideas, but wanted the walls up first.

I also made a little door for egg collection…its not real pretty but it works! :)

Lookin good!!!
I wish I had your eye for making something come together! I tried to frame out the bottom of the lean-to coop addition and idk...somehow it is level on all 4 sides but using what I got is very difficult to make come together. Then I keep remembering what @TropicalBabies said about the roof pitch and trying to make sure I have atleast a couple feet height all the way around inside the addition cuz remember all mine are tiny babies and most cuddle puddle rather than roosting.
I think yall need a roadtrip!
Thank you! Wish you weren’t quite so far away! I’d drive out and help :-D I am sure you will get it though! Just don’t be hard on yourself ❤️
That is just SO cute!! Good job!!!
Thanks!! My perfectionist side sees every flaw and imperfection but I know it doesn’t have to be perfect for the chickens to be happy and safe and dry so that’s what I’m trying to focus on.

Kurbys got some tools and skills! Obviously got over the power tool dislike? Way to go chicka! 😄👍

Could stil be an ALV or even a deficiency, I suppose. When was your property built? Heavy metal toxicity causes ataxia and paresis. It can be a lengthy progression in it's symptoms depending on how it's ingested e.g. if a bird ingests lead shot it's going to manifest symptoms more quickly than if it's picking up tiny particles in the soil over time. A blood test can determine if it's a metal toxicity.

Botulism or algae intoxication could be another possibility although these tend to kill pretty swiftly.

Sorry it's taken me a while to reply. I had to get a paper done for my course and as usual, left it to the last minute 🤣
Yeah, I plan to take another sample and send it in and have them test for ALV as well as perhaps some environmental toxicities if they can. I just can't imagine what kind of toxicity it would be--the yard is just a yard, but I am sure the soil could include all number of things I am unaware exist in the soil. I will keep looking...but I feel more certain that the Death Coop is an issue in some way. None of my birds in any other run have had walking issues, there must be something in that coop I just don't see. It's so frustrating!

I hope your paper came together well! My MO is always to wait until the last minute and then cram it all into the last 48 hours before it's due. :D

Welllll...not exactly...I hired my husband to do all the power tool work, he was easily convinced so the screamer can get out of the house! :lau He has a habit of doubting my skills and ideas, so I have had to swallow a LOT of annoyance at the "that's never gonna work" face he makes when I ask him to do something. I love him but he was NOT gifted with the ability to visualize ANYTHING. And conversely, I am not gifted with the communication skills needed to aid someone like him in seeing what I want...this has been the source of MANY arguments between us over the past 15 years haha.

I hear ya. X2. I swear that is why I got chickens lol. "They" quickly forget we are right 92% of the time. Jerry Lopez says 100% but I remember being wrong once or twice 😂 so I'm giving leeway.

Still trying to keep the yokos or re-home them and at the same time keep the other birds from getting it. Wishing I'd only worried about vaccinating my own birds so it'd be done already...but sounds like this weekend should work out. 🤞 So glad I paid for overnight shipping so the vaccine can sit in my fridge...lol. Anyways...the yokos are all healthy and looking great. Not a sign of sickness anywhere! I have to go look at pics of Baby's eye to remind myself. Still no illness anywhere else so that's good. Missing my favorite vet and wishing I had his advice.

I need to make windows on two coops so I extra love seeing what you've done ❤️. Would a hook and eye work to secure it open?
It looks good enough I know my kids would have fought the chickens for it when they were little 🤣.

@Gammas Bearded Babies o wouldn't we have fun if we could all come help! It'll come together for you and future projects will be easier too I'm sure ❤️

Well don't yall laugh!!!
Here's what I got...keeping in mind I'm not supposed to be buying anything (except I told DH I will need a piece for roofin).
Note I just have the framing clamped there at the roof to try and figure out an angle and how best to build it up against existing coop so that I don't end up with moisture coming into addition.
