What did you do with your flock today?

OMGeeze!!! It looks like a little tiny house! A day they look so adorable sitting in there like they are havin a tea party!
You just gotta come do mine!!!
And this was the scrap coop right?!
just amazing!

Well funny thing...I'm sitting here listening to probably millions of the little slick turds croaking right now!
They are the tiniest little frogs you have ever seen....sometimes the are even on our house!
Imagine our surprise when we had looked at the property before buying at least 4 times. Never heard a thing!
Then on move in day - we were like what in the world!?! Guess God didn't want us feeling like we had totally left the countryside!!!
Yes, it’s the scraps coop haha. I have a problem…it’s my ADD perfectionism…we spent more than we should have because I wanted it to look pretty hahaha. We had to buy a bunch of trim boards and some extra paint. Plus the better roof. But it was totally worth it! 😍

I forgot to post final pictures 😍 Turned out well!
You could make coop building your fun money side kick ... people would pay for that ❤️ That really came out beautiful!
Just a thought. Could you load the needles with the cold vax, and just let those warm up, so you don't have to warm the whole bottle? Then you'd have more for the next dose, and beyond. Needles are relatively cheaper than the vax. I had to buy insulin needles for my dog at one time, and they weren't expensive.
I sure like the thought. Wonder if I'd inject germs with the air or the hole left from poking the rubber seal 100 times would let germs in. The hole was rather large by the end and bubbling as air escaped. I'd love to find someone who's tried it though and see how it went. I have saved penicillin for reuse...the liquid injectable. Needed it for my one horse...think that was when she got snake bit...but loaded a needle and put it back in the fridge in case needed more.

The vaccine is mixed with penicillin as a preservative if I remember right. Might be effective to keep it sanitized.

Awww thank you!! 😍 I actually really enjoyed it too! Who knew?? 😆 Feels good building my own stuff! I did consider it haha. I will have to see how I feel after coop #3 and the quail coop 😆😆

@PopoMyers I too think that vaccination idea is quite genius!! I’m totally gonna try this! I bought single use syringes from Valley Vet and I could totally do this! This would limit any contamination! 🎉

@PopoMyers ! Your back and alive and well-ish. Good to see... read you!
So glad and impressed you are doing bags! Terrific ♡♡♡! It gets easier as you go because you teach yourself something every bag.
So much to respond to... amazing job @kurby22 . Nothing like pretty chickens in a pretty (and clean!) coop!! I hope you are onto something and continue on.

Good thinking with the individual viles 🤔💡 Going to store that away in the good idea files.

@ChicksnMore Love bag 1 and 3. I have never seen them b4. Have plenty 2's. Scratch and all flock are the burnt orange bag w/ barn art. Very simular to each other and no one buys those lol. Sad I know these things haha.

I actually have an order for 7 dozen eggs on March 10th as my customer is sailing to the Marquesas and needs my fresh and unwashed eggs to take with him. How cool is that?! And who wants to sneak on board with me and how many chickens should we try to smuggle on with us?! What an amazing adventure!! I'm so happy for him.

We also have a new family member. It's official.

Oooooh Mele is just beautiful and clearly feeling right at home 😍😍😍

Did I ever show you all the chickens on the boat we saw in Monterey? Maybe he should take your eggs and we could smuggle ourselves and a few hens on with him! It’s clearly doable! 😆

I am enjoying the cleanliness of the new coop! 😆😆 it’s like my children’s rooms…need lots of pictures as the cleanliness is only fleeting! 😆 It could be a fun side gig like your bags…maybe! Hehe 🙃

Maaaybe a little too comfortable lol. But hall pass for a bit. His folks went to a care home obviously without a plan for him. I was able to contact them because of the chip he had and asked her if we could be his new parents. She was very grateful ♡

An exhausting thankless money bleeding timesuck? 😂😂😂😂 run @kurby run!

That's wonderful that Mele found you ❤️ We have a funny stray boy that likes our house that's the same color as Mele. I'll have to see if he'll let me take his picture for you tomorrow. I call him Heineken cause he's stout. Don't think he's used to having a home though...took forever to gain his trust and he's definitely not a house cat. He lets me pet him now but I have to be careful as he marked me once. Wow that was a stink! Guess he says I'm his though 🤣

I'll box up some bags for you ❤️

Welcome to the fam Mele!!! Definitely looks right at home!
U got a big heart!!!

Anyone here use shredded paper with their chickens? I had boxes and boxes of stuff to shred from girl scout days. I ended up filling 2 feed bags to the packed brim with it and I'm trying to find a use for it. I tried it in the nest boxes...chickens loved it and I hate it there...lol.
Anyone have any ways they use it and like it for?
I love my shredded paper in the nest boxes but I also top it with dried grass and then just toss all in the compost when ready to change.

I have seen & read Shad and maybe gtaus using it for bedding material.
I use it for packing boxes for shipping, filling small paper bags to stuff in voids. Thought about making nesting pads with it, not permanent as it is not washable.
