What did you do with your flock today?

Great information...I had no idea epsom salt or molasses was high in magnesium ❤️.
Just wanted to add to be careful with psyllium husk as it can cause constipation if too much is given, especially if there's inadequate water intake.
Absolutely in relation to the pysillium husk. That's why I said it was for short term use. It's a regulator rather than a laxative per se.

@PopoMyers tis true...and every time I have this conversation with Him I ask what could it hurt to have some more babies...then I'm quickly reminded that I never know what lies ahead...but HE does. So I best wait! I mean we are down to 6 weeks mark on next grandbaby then following that 3 weeks is another!
I'll focus on what is in front of me and wait patiently for once in my life! Thank u for the feedback!
I sure hope Pepper improves. That doesnt look good and i have no idea what to do to help you out there! @Shetland lover Is really helpful though!
@FBMcrazy8 yeah weather is insane...I was actually gonna ask u if u had taken your run covers down yet ...but if u got cold weather still I prob got my answer.
My babies are keeping slow and steady but I started takin down everything so they can have some airflow through the run.
Surely we won't have anymore blizzards...or teen weather. Frost yes but hopefully that'll be it.

Finally getting a cup of coffee after treating Pepper. It looks worse, so am withholding normal food. She ate a little of the applesauce cornmeal oil mash and is drinking. Soaked her in epsom bath, dried, put ointment, and now honey and sugar on prolapse. It seems like poop is super glued and hard on a portion of it, and all the soaking hasn't gotten it off. Is this normal for this? View attachment 3413841 @Shetland lover also, as I was draining the water, found a piece of tissue. Hope her insides are not falling out. It was like a water balloon, filled with clear liquid. Urates and liquid keep leaking out, looks bad when she strains. Gave her the meloxicam this morning. Needs time to work. I think I'll give her another dose tonight. Have to pick up some Calcium citrate D as recommended by others.
I really think you should try to get her to a vet. If it keeps prolapsing, she's going to need a stitch. The prognosis isn't good if it doesn't resolve itself quite quickly. Like any exposed soft tissue, secondary bacterial infection is a real risk so keep watching for that and start her on a broad spectrum antibiotic, if necessary. 'm not sure what the tissue is, I wouldn't like to guess without being able examine it.
Have you been able to apply hemorrhoid cream yet? That's the best topical thing to reduce swelling and inflammation. Meloxicam is a great idea for pain relief and it's anti-inflammatory properties. I'm curious about the sugar? I've never seen that before used before.
She is going to leak urates espcially if she is constipated, just keep her clean.. Is her abdomen hard? Have you seen her pass a normal poop in the last 24 hours?

Yeah I still have them up. I may keep mine up for a while because of the wind. Summer will be different. That wind will feel fantastic for them. I only have 4 tarps up by their house so when they come out they don’t get blown around. And then I have scrap plywood up on the side of their house so when they are under it they don’t get hit with rain or wind.

I’m really hoping there isn’t any more blizzards. Although I have seen snow, and it stick, for Easter…so who really knows. 😂

Ok guys. This is my opinion on these eggs I’m seeing. This is a blood ring. They are only 6 days in but I don’t see ANY other veins. Im putting in another picture to show where about the rest are. Others show veins that are there but no blood ring yet but not NEARLY as developed. These are Call ducks just to clarify, though I don’t think that makes much of a difference.

I would show my friend and ask her but I figured I would get more opinions. I don’t want to throw an egg out that might still be good.

Top two eggs look like blood rings, the bottom one looks great!

That’s what I thought. I just wanted to be sure before I took it out. The bottom one is fantastic, and there are several like that one. I’m so happy with that one. But I wanted to double check with the others because they are only so far in and yesterday when I checked I didn’t see any development and today that was there. There is a few more I may give a little more time. There is veins but nothing like the bottom one. They are very faint.

Thank you so much for your help!

She has passed poo today, in the bath, and this afternoon. Her abdomen doesn't feel hard. Since laying her egg Tuesday morning, I've kept her in a darkened room, so no more eggs. I've seen and read conflicting information. Hemorrhoid cream seems to be recently not recommended, but hydrocortisone. Bandage it to keep it in, or not. Didn't feel any hard poo in her vent. Read to put honey and sugar on exposed tissue to keep it moist and for healing. Sugar kills germs. Gave her a Tums (calcium citrate antacid) which she ate. She's been clucking a little today. Checking on vets. Local one not available until Sunday, then it's emergency clinic.
