What did you do with your flock today?

Hope he's gone the perfect amount of time...just enough to enjoy a little quiet time ❤️

Lovely new littles whatever they are!

I like the mirror...I've never thought of that ❤️

Looking forward to seeing Pepper all better! ❤️
Thank you! I have only had the Barred Rock with my first 18 but I also know that Cuckoo Marans can look the same, just the leg color is telling. And to be honest, I didn’t look at the legs. 🤦‍♀️ I will have to do that tomorrow. I did look up the Australorps and these little ones look a lot like they are supposed to. And I haven’t did any research on the buff Orpington. Either way, they are great friends for her and will be a great addition to our flock! ❤️

Yippee, gal and her hubby came and picked up the roofing tin! We chatted chicken for awhile and then I sent them off with saline eye wash, nutra-drench and a few mils of Tylan 200. She has a few chicks with swollen eyes so best to be prepared. Love chicken farmers ♡

My needle and syringe supply is beyond low so I treated myself to a boxes of 10ml & 3ml plus 22 & 18 needles caps and transfer adapters. It feels so grown up and even luxurious- thank you Amazon! I would like a few 5ml and 20ml syringes but I am pretty darn happy with my start.

Flock is in an uproar right now. Must be the fresh nesting material lol.
Cleaned poop boards, changed water, tossed a little scratch.
What have you used all the needles for? I guess with all your fur and feather kids you need to have them on hand. I wouldn't know the first thing about injecting a chicken. I can, however, give insulin shots to a dog, and vaccines to dogs and cats.

Chicks are so, so adorable. Especially when they interact with you like that and don't run screaming to the other side of the brooder. You will probably find it will always be friendlier than the rest.
It was lovely for me to be mother hen for once as I don't normally hatch. Having said that, Pru and I are a team. She allows me to take the chicks from day one and start to handle them with no stress or growling or pecking. DH is NOT allowed the same privilege. She comes in the house with them for breakfast and supper. With Stan, she even came and sat at my feet while I worked. Once they got a bit older, she'd bring them into the house and dump them on me while she had a break. She's a fantastic broody. Penelope kept kidnapping Stan until he was about 10wks and Pru wasn't having any of it. I do feel sorry for Penelope, she's desperate to be a mommy but we can't have any more chickens at present.
Just a thought. you know, like stud service, Penelope could be an incubator service for someone who would rather have a broody do the job.

As long as she doesn’t eat any more brains. I don’t think I could handle all that. 🤢 But yeah I would take her! I can send her back after a while 😁😁
She was a week old and the chick only 8 hours. I think it was the only one that was actually Pru's out of the 3 of them. Penelope was an absolute little b*tch until she went broody for the first time.

She's a total darling now. I'd send her but I know you'll fall in love and I won't get her back :hit

🤣 🤣 great idea! Penelope hasn't raised any yet but I know she'd sit until the world ends if you let her.

Pru would be a a sure bet but she's Ferdy's girl so he'd have to go with her and I can't go more than a couple of days without my Ferdy-Birdy...

More strong winds today...with warnings of tornados this time around. Another week of no work on the backporch...makes 3 full weeks of good weather they could have worked and did not. Very frustrating but guess we need to grow some patience and wait.:thwhich I'm NOT good at:barnie

Let all the babies outta the coop and listened to the lil Buff baby Sonny "hoot, hoot" his little crow while Hank tried to remain in the coop and figure out how Sonny has been doin it LOL. All Hank can do is honk quietly!
Meanwhile poor ole bootyhead Joey has 1 lone tail feather remaining. He looks hideous. Bluey keeps pulling Joey's down feathers out then calls the girls over to eat em as a treat! Now is that strange or what?!
How long does it typically take for them to grow their new feathers back in?

Helped my middle daughter with the nursery yesterday cuz she's due first. Extremely sore after just raising my arms and pressing vinyl to the walls - daisies!
Need to figure out a time to help my oldest with her nursery before middle daughter has her baby...they are 3 weeks apart so should be interesting. She wants a very elegant looking nursery!

@kurby22 how's the coops coming along?!
You too @ChicksnMore !!!
Anyone else building coops right now?!
My DH looked at mine and helped fix an area that was comical but i hadn't been able to do anything else since.

So I wanted to let you all know in case you didn’t already but any antibiotic medication that we all have been able to get over the counter for our animals will need a prescription in June of this year. I would stock up on what you can unless your like me and have a vet nearby. I just heard about this.
