What did you do with your flock today?

Despite being down to 20s at night this week, the Robins are still hunting Spring worms 🪱 & getting them, too 😋

O I miss robins! We get so many beautiful birds migrating through here...I've even gotten to see a kingfisher relaxing in our pine tree one year. But no robins at all ☹️. Glad you shared the pictures!
@kurby22 they are just gorgeous!!! That dang blue waterer is the one that just cracked on me...ugh guess thats what i get for being stubborn and not getting the heated one back out.
Like I could really be insistent on Spring coming on - gosh I got a lot to learn!

Oh gosh! That makes me wanna give few more thoughts to letting my broodys raise em!
Can't wait to see pics though!!!

Thank You so much! Sure needed this after going out to 20s and frozen waterers, breaking one and trying to fix the dang thing while a gallon ran right down my arm and into my sleeve 🙃 good morning! Lol

Wow! Look at your grass!?! I'm in TN n mine is still half dead everywhere!

Well DH decided to fix the slide area of the playground set so they could have something outside still. Then he got a wild hair and decided he's gonna build em a swingset using 6x6 in the ground 3'. So DS came over and just picked that thing up like it was nothing! He's still got his football muscles from high-school I guess! He had a blast using the massive auger and the jack hammer LOL!
Wanted to show off my coop addition so he came over and showed me how he'd screw the screw in...practically went through the entire board when he did it but stuck out an inch with me.
DH helped me cut the last 2 pieces of LP smartside and fit em into place...hated to ask him to but I'm taking forever to get it done and my 4 boys r starting to get Fiesta.
I do have a pondering though...
Instead of doing the run on the addition alongside the main run....should I go out to the left making the entire thing more like an 'L" shape? That way I can still use the arra there like I did last year for sunflowers and free cantaloupe from compost that took over the side of the run?
Pic from last yr as reference.
OMGeeze I can't wait for green grass again!
The swing set sounds like a fun addition! Glad your son and dh gave a hand ❤️. My oldest daughters the one I turn to when I need help...she's handier then most guys I know 😂.
I love the idea of it making an L...bet your birds loved all that greenery just outside!
How are the rottie puppies n the newly hatched babies all doing @FBMcrazy8

The wind and cold is so bad again I broke down and cover the end that gets it the worst...depressing in there!
The winds howling here again too. Was reading about poor California's rain problems this morning. How's everything there @kurby22 ? Are you in a safe area from flooding?

Well we got creative and a bit lazy in order to get the quail moved out of their crappy pens for something better. I opted to buy what I needed instead of building it since we are running out of free time and the rain delayed things for sooooo long. I’m happy with how it worked out and hoping it remains as sturdy as it appears to be!

This run fit exactly on top of the metal frame of the garden bed! We laid down pavers, then hardware cloth, then 70 lbs of sand, 3 cu ft of organic soil, and some pine shavings. Hoping this means no gross water/heat mixtures for maggots and keeps out rodents! Plus they will be easier to keep cool come summer since they are on soil that can drain. They seem sooo happy! 😍
Your quail are beautiful and nice job on the enclosure 😉🤙 hope it holds well. It is nice to pay for convenience AND quality 🤞🤞

Sir ClucksALot says I'm not allowed in the run right now 😂. He attacked me while I was giving them wet food and duckweed, realized a second later that I had baby treats and forgot all about me just like that. Him and the unnamed rooster are sharing guard duty, but SirClucks is the only one that gets grumpy with me. All the ladies are fascinated by the babies. They've all seen babies before and have helped Hennie with them, but never this young or got to see them hatch. I knew the babies were hatching because all the ladies were going up to the nestbox and peering in making these inquisitive churring sounds. They're all sticking to Hennie and the babies like glue. This is the first time that none of them have shown any aggression towards the chicks at all. Think it's a combination of experience with chicks and having them hatch in the coop. Very very sweet watching them though!

Forgive the dirty looking water...that's actually dirt scratched in right after I cleaned it. I dumped some dry chick starter right after and they immediately went to kicking it everywhere while I went back for their wet food and duckweed.

We are getting skirted by the edge of this passing frontal boundary. I will not complain as I love the weather. A cool, very wet and fresh morning. DH is wringing his hands in worry as we are scheduled to pick up a ton of hay tomorrow morning. No big thing if we need to change pick-up times or dates. Main thing we have the hay secured as they have been months and months behind because of the rains.

Got some terrific kitty food bags sent to me and I finished them all yesterday. They came out terrific.

Hows the baby today @ChicksnMore ? Such a cute little cusper. I would do the same for sure ♡

CONGRATULATIONS 🎊🎉🎉 @FBMcrazy8 I'd imagine it is a decent hatch for what you all went through. Next one will be better.
She's doing great 👍. She has mites something awful on her head. She's so little I don't want to use chemicals on her, so rubbed her down with de. Think I'm going to rub just her bald areas with a little olive oil tonight to try smothering them.
Her name is now Snookums and she definitely likes all the attention. She was a frightened, wild thing and now she's calm and affectionate. ❤️

I wonder if Vaseline can help . Maybe mix with a eco friendly soap and choke them out.

This one is going to have some life! Snookums the wonder chicken! 😄
