What did you do with your flock today?

Yeah, I'm just whining 😂 she is doing terrific and will be out in another day.

Mo'o Mele goes to jail tonight and then I take him to Kapaa first thing in the morning for his tooth extraction.

I also will be taking in a spider carcass to the Ag dept, DH gets another boost, switching phone plans, shopping... yuck. Don't like long complicated days in town.

When I get home I am going to put Mazie in observation jail and give her a spa treatment. Her butt is poopy, does not look like vent gleet but gunna clean her and possibly give her an Epsom cleanse inside and out. Perk her up. Maybe put Indy in with her and give them both a once over. My spry little girls are showing some age. Mazie has been relaxing more in the dirt, kind of in weird spots while the flock is jamming around her. No swelling, crop is fine, just going to look a little deeper so I don't have any regrets. She/they are no young spring chickens anymore 🐔🐔💕

We never got any rain on the Westside.

This eve I topped off feeders and scrubbed and filled all waterers so i won't need to do and chicken chores tomorrow morning.
Refilled my food safe too. Had some nibbles on the top of the feed bag. Not sure if that came from feed store or from home. Forest did catch me a big fat mouse the day b4 yesterday, chickens ate it 😳 lol not sure who, looked for a big crop but had a few suspects. Seems like I may need to keep an eye on populations 👀
Oh ita nice to get town days all combined and done in one setting...but it does make for a LONG day thats for sure!
When you soak the girls in epson salt...do u go ahead and bathe them to get all that clean again as well?
It seems like once my boys get a hold of the girls they end up with nasty backsides more ways than one 😆 🤣.
So soon as we have little bit more consistent warm weather at night I'm gonna try to bathe and trim booties!
Just wondering if they'll need drying or if air dry will suffice.
I can't imagine them eating mice....with just having bantams mine tend to be afraid of anything that moves lol! But my d'uccles did slurp up an earthworm and I really wondered where they put it cuz they r so tiny!!!

@PopoMyers such a long recovery process! Praying it continues to go well for you! I bet that is like catering a wedding for sure!
@Shetland lover how's your shoulder doin!?

Are those Mexican Gold's or Yellow Tecoma's? Juuuuust loooovely.

Hard when things change. I mourn the old days but grateful I have memories of a slower time ♡ I'm sure my kids and grandkids will think the same.
There's one blue Palo Verde tree close to the side walk and the rest are Yellow Bells. Talk about change...when they bought that house their neighbors had a pasture next to them with horses!

They can do the craziest of things can't they! And look like they are near death then perk right up...sometimes.
Glad she's ok!

OMGeeze I LUV it!!! U better than me!
They kept eating my lambs ear...and i knew no way I could protect the 1' raised beds...so their run got a courtyard lol! No more roamin the back yard til winter then they can have all the raised beds but one for garlic!

Oh u workin hard too! Looks so good!
Doesn't it feel amazing to get so much accomplished!?!
I took the long lightweight pallet our aluminum 3 fencing panels came on from the windstorm and notched out some places on it to connect for the roofin!
I'm so close.to being done i can taste it!

She's such a cutie!!!

Luv it when the cats do their job!!!
u r gonna be busy for sure - 100!?! Wow!
How are you doing with healin?!
my Lizzy is hesitant to come to me too now
...afraid I'll try to give her a calcium pill im sure!

yeah its very possible...she being Satin bantam she doesn't lay regularly anyway so hard to tell.
today she laid a large egg but thin shell and doesn't feel smooth at all...very rough all over. When she first started laying few months back she would have calcium deposits here and there. But the past few if they have a shell at all are weird like this one today.

Oh how gorgeous!!!
DH won't buy anything but flowering cherry trees with white blooms lol so I don't get to see much color! Those are Beautiful!
How exciting when you get to the roofing! So close to done then ❤️ Can't wait to see your scrap coop!

I have ducklings hatching in the next day or so and hopefully some Turkeys. I am now down to 3 of them. I hope at least 2 hatch so I don’t have a lonely Turkey. I can’t remember if I said it on here but I had 2 of my chickens eggs not hatch. I check on them knowing they had internally pipped but they hadn’t broken through the shell yet and I really wanted to know if they were at least still alive. And no, no movement. I decided to open up the air cell and look and see if I could tell what happened. Both of them had cross beak.

I also decided 2 days ago to reach out and feel my goats stomach, just to see if I could see what was going on. And sure enough there is at least a baby, I’m guessing maybe 2 but I have no idea. Then yesterday I reached out touched her tail area to see if I could feel the ligaments and though I’m not 100% sure, but I’m almost positive that if they aren’t gone, they are close. Her utter is getting big, and she is just moving much slower. So now, I am going to be adding a little stall area to their house so she can be separated. I had to fix their feeder cause the wire I used was useless to them. They ripped that apart. This stuff they won’t be able to though cause I had to use bolt cutters to cut it to size.

Anyway, really busy and now that the wind has died, I can get some stuff done. Including planting my garden.
Your making me want baby goats again so bad 🤣. My kids used to sit and cuddle the babies for hours. Here's old pics of a young goat named Jessica and my youngest. Not sure if Jessica thought she was human or Tami thought she was a goat, but those two were inseparable.

Well, with my kids grown having baby goats wouldn't be the same anyway. Guess I don't want babies after all 😂

Hope Maxie's ok. Always sad watching our babies age.

I eat the canned salmon bones myself. I like the texture contrast, and calcium boost. LOL
Ditto! We are fortunate to get free salmon some years from the local hatchery, or DH gets lucky and hooks a few. After I fillet them, I have let the chooks pick off the whole carcass, with the occasional roe. Uncooked skin is tough. Would anyone know if the offal is ok for them? They have also eaten crab gills here and there while DH is cleaning them. ( we get Dungeness) Maybe I should grind up the crab shells for them?

When we eat crab and shrimp I just toss the whole shell bits in the runs. The chickens do an amazing job of eating up most of it. I'd never thought of grinding up that hard crab back they struggle with. Bet it'd be a great supplement for them.

You have your hands full. Caring for elders of any species is hard work. Hoping your girls will be healthy again, soon. I have a couple poopy-ish butts to attend to as well. Pretty soon, I should be able to. They were all wormed and don't look too bad, unlike Pua girl.
This elder prefers to do all the errands in one day, if at all possible. Kind of enjoy staying 🏡 and being outside with the feathers and dirt, or playing in the kitchen or with puzzles. Saving the bags for when my doctor says I can use my thumb again.

Thank you. With your prayers added, it seems to be ahead of the longer time frame the doc expects, but maybe they give worse case scenario so we don't have false expectations. I'm so working hard 💪 on the O.T.
Getting supplies, making scone mix and shortbread today.
