What did you do with your flock today?

I forget how fast this thread moves!

I had 6 chicks hatch. One other hatched but it didn’t make it. Neither mother wanted the poor thing and let’s just say it got beat up. But I tried to save it anyway. It was set at the same time as the others but for whatever reason hatched later than the rest. And I set both mommas at the same time so that there wouldn’t be any killing of babies if another got too close the the other momma. Didn’t work out for that little one 😞.

I took the one duck egg inside with the chick so they could be buddies, but now I’m thinking that the duckling will have to go with my other single duck. So it will work out…

And so far the momma duck has all her eggs developing.

My bags have gone international again!

I want to scoop all these babies up. I am powerless over kitties and a sucker for stripes. What a beautiful bunch. I hope they all have Shadows good luck ♡♡♡ i could just stare at these kitties all day long. They are probably super happy because of the remaining chick smell in the cage. They're like, so this is heaven?! 😂

That is just SO AWESOME!!!!

Think Cochin's are fabulous ♡♡♡ and dreamed of a few myself but a little hard to get here and plus I have not made it past the Brahma. Just a bigger Cochin I guess. Would not want to subject them to my lack of pamperd lifestyle. They are so beautiful.
Send more photos and I will be satisfied.

Lots going on @FBMcrazy8 . Life is good!

I got 9 eggs yesterday. So better, but I realized that maybe I had better cut down on snacks. Healthy or not, I had been trying to make myself feel better for disrupting my chooks by tossing them healthy snacks. Loving them to death so they say. I don't want to get them sick with fatty liver disease and such. So, glad I reigned myself in. It is hard because I love them so.

Well, today will be much like yesterday. Bags and freerange!! 😄🤙

He is. He's a very well respected microbiologist and professor of animal sciences. My course has finished now but he said to keep in touch. He might come to regret that 🤣

That's the trouble with bombarding with meds, you never know exactly what it was that helped them turn a corner. Unfortunately, with chickens, as they're so good at hiding sickness until it's almost too late, sometimes you have to use several approaches in treatment.
That's where it'd be great to have a home lab to be able to culture samples, do bloodwork etc. I'm looking into the possibility of getting a decent microscope and even a portable ultrasound machine. Can't afford it right now but it would be useful.🤔

What's CA poppy seed? Is it Californian poppy, I.e. Eschscholzia californica? Everything in the Uriva looks good to me, anti-inflammatories, pain relief, diuretics...
As well as treating gout, it could help support her kidneys too which can swell and function poorly during m.synoviae.
Hopefully Blossom will keep on improving. M.synoviae has low mortality rates 1-10% as long as it's not complicated by other illnesses.
Yes, it is the Eschscholzia spp. I was hoping it would help with the swelling in general so I’m glad you approve! 😍 A microscope may not help me but the US machine is a cool idea! 🤔

How adorable! 😍😍😍 Reminds me of my gorgeous George when he was a kitten.
Bless you for taking Shadow in. You have so much willpower not to have taken the other two.
Mine have done nothing to deal with the rat population. Mostly they just stare at them non-plussed. Elliot did nearly catch one on his birthday but it escaped. Hopefully your new kitty will do much better!
This is my concern 😆😆 I don’t want nonplussed ratters 😆😆 I hope he really enjoys hunting rats but I do worry he’s too nice already 🤪 I bought him a stuffed rat to beat up and play with as training 😁

Too cute for words! They both look so happy 😍😍😍
Thank you ☺️ I agree! She’s very happy about him, and finds him more “fun” than Miyuki 😆

Fun that your bags are making their way all over! :-D I’ve been saving up bags for you since you are okay with the boring ones haha :)

I knew you would love the striped kitties! They were both super sweet and maybe slightly older? Shadow was a bit smaller and much leaner. If it wasn’t so crazy hot, I probably would have stayed for awhile to pet them all 😆

@Shetland lover I just love your Cochins 😍

Today we had a very unfortunate discovery on our backyard retaining wall…raccoon scat 😫😫 Will rats hide from them? 😆 Are they scared of outdoor cats? 😫 One issue and now another!!

Upgraded Shadow’s living quarters today too! And introduced him to a chicken. Went pretty well, but he decided the chick should play with him and that freaked out Elvis so it was a short visit as a first visit. :)

Today it’s supposed to be 108, so before it got super hot, I scrubbed waterers, filled waterers, filled feeders and collected eggs. I missed egg collection in a coop that usually doesn’t have broodies…and there are two eggs developing 😫😫😫 So I gave them to Fuzzy the best broody momma to try hatching 🤪 So annoying…I forget how the heat moves things along sooo fast! 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️ Not sure it will survive the heat but I just can’t throw out babies 😫
