What did you do with your flock today?

My bags have gone international again!View attachment 3577595
Internet went down last night, as i went back in this thread to catch what i missed this morning, seeing @kurbys posted photo again... :love View attachment 3577629
I want to scoop all these babies up. I am powerless over kitties and a sucker for stripes. What a beautiful bunch. I hope they all have Shadows good luck ♡♡♡ i could just stare at these kitties all day long. They are probably super happy because of the remaining chick smell in the cage. They're like, so this is heaven?! 😂
What a great bag! The face on it! 😍

Gorgeous kitties and bet they're great mousers. Our feed store here adopts stray kitties. They always end up with a few of them that move in for the free kibble and the privilege of sleeping on the counter. In return they help out with rodent control. Win win. Maybe that feed store will do the same if no one scoops up the purr babies.

I can't even begin to imagine how you're all dealing with the heat! We're lucky in that our temps are in the low 20°c with scattered showers at the minute. Perfect growing weather and a comfortable temp for us and the chickens. Can you believe I've heard people complaining that we're not in the middle of a heatwave like the rest of Europe??
They can have some of ours! And I'd love a little of that rain while we're trading 😂

All my Dad's siblings are scared of them! No idea why but when I've asked it was a garbled tale to do with one coming down the living room chimney and attacking one of them as a small child?! 🤔
My Dad was also scared of them until I brought a stray home at 11. He was a big softie and couldn't bear to say 'no' to his little girl. I got to keep her but he avoided her as much as possible.
My uncle has had to have hypnotherapy to deal better with his fear as the first thing his kids did when they left home was get cats! They used to joke it was to stop him visiting them 🤣

I'm terrified of heights too! I get an overwhelming desire to hurl myself over cliff edges. Must be part lemming!

They LOVE coming to the allotment. So many bugs and weeds for them to have at!
Poor Uncle!

Our old neighbor came for the fourth and our old boy Oliver jumped in his lap for a meet and greet. John doesn't like cats but his kids do, so he had me take pics to prove he has a cat friend 😂.

Oliver just loves hairing up our visitors 😂

A US machine would take the guesswork out of diagnosing laying issues and fewer icky internal exams as well as being useful in looking at internal organs. The cheapest one I've seen is around £600 but the better ones are anything up to £4000!
Digital microscopes are much more affordable, £200 will get me a decent one.

My first cat had been dumped as a stray and she was an amazing ratter, took down rats twice her size!
Giving Shadow a stuffed rat is a good idea. I'd tie some string to it and make it a game to chase it, hone his skills. You could give Aria that 'job' 😁
She volunteered herself for the “training” before I could even suggest it 😆😆 She’s quite obsessed with him and he loves it! ❤️

The US sounds pricey but helpful! The microscope would be better if I knew what I was looking at 😆😆

I let my chickens out of the run today for the first time in three or four weeks, and they thoroughly enjoyed it! Opened the door at 8:30, as it was starting to get dark so they wouldn't range too far.

I never saw them run and fly as much as they did tonight. Pretty cool! One of the pullets had squatted for one of the cockerels, but I didn't see if the cockerel mounted her. When I looked over she was down on the ground with the cockerel next to her. Maybe I missed it. Maybe it didn't happen.

I'm hoping the boys are well behaved little roosters. I know there's at least one of the pullets that strikes fear into the cockerels, so I think I have a good hen that won't take any crap and will keep the boys in line! LOL

They all were back inside to roost by 9:30. But they split up. Seven pullets and one cockerel went into the big run. One pullet and a cockerel went into the coop where I had my injured pullet segregated. They all seemed happy where they were so I locked them in for the night.

And yeah, I played my little guitar for them some and gave them some tasty treats: scratch mixed with a little bit of hamburger taco meat. haha

I thought about getting a microscope so I could do fecal test for worms. But right now they all seem healthy and energetic, and their poop looks right. If I suspect worms I might get one.

And dang! Chicken poop gets big as the birds get older. I saw a turd today that was about the size of a small egg!

Yeah worms might be something I could see haha.

Yes, it totally does! Broody ones are the hugest and stinkiest! So awful! 😆

I think you're supposed to look for worm eggs in the fecal samples. There's a thread here somewhere that has pictures of the eggs of different kinds of worms, for identification purposes. And it describes how to use a microscope for examining the samples. I'll see if I can find it....

Ahhh okay that makes sense! Thanks!! 😁

Sounds like a great day for you and your chickens! They also get to eat some darn good treats at your place! Lucky chickens 🌮🌮
