What did you do with your flock today?

Your commitment to your furred and feathered friends helps restore my faith in humanity. Thank you for being awesome!
Awe! That is sweet of you to say. Honestly, I'm just helping to support some awesome people that are really doing the heavy lifting. The reward for lending a hand when I can, is amazing. ♡

Along with a few young females, I trapped 2 small kittens, too young to get fixed, but perfect for fostering. Poppy and Tally will have some roommates after they get cleared.

Seems so long since I had time to post anything!
If you remember, my brother was getting married and I had to make an emergency bouquet and cake decorations...
I ended up ordering in blush roses which arrived the day before the wedding. They were really, really pink on arrival so I had a 4pm dash round everywhere I could think of that sold flowers. I managed to cobble this together last minuteView attachment 3643000View attachment 3643001
My SIL loved them and that's all that matters.
The sugarpaste flowers turned out alright for a first attempt. I enjoyed doing them so I might practice more.View attachment 3643002View attachment 3643003

Unfortunately we all came down with covid the day after the wedding. My mom and I are still really unwell so I haven't been able to spend much time with the chickens.
I have managed to see them at least twice a day, even on the 2 days I slept for nearly 48hrs. Ferdy, of course, has been letting himself in to visit. Only trouble is, he lets everyone else in and yesterday I came downstairs to find 3 of the ladies settled on the sofa. Good job It's leather, is all I'm going to say about that!
Your flowers are gorgeous! They're so life like it's stunning. Beautiful job ❤️.
We got back Tuesday from the wedding we attended, and also came down with COVID the day after the wedding. My first time with it. Don't think I've ever slept so much as lately. Don't really feel sick...just exhausted.
Hope you and your mum start to recover soon!

The wedding we went to was beautiful 😍. We got back Tuesday and I spent Wednesday caring for the yard and beasties. Found three dead birds and crazy filthy water but otherwise everything was ok. I don't think anyone's water was changed or cleaned the entire time I was gone. Not sure what to think on that...too tired right now so I'll figure out what to say to the neighbor later. Luckily I have some time as he doesn't want paid until I test COVID free, and yesterday's test was still strongly positive.
Not sure what I'll be doing for pet care in the future.
Today I let the little dwarfs out to play. The geese are getting big so I'm leaving chicken protection up to them today. They're awfully good guard geese!

Native, undisturbed grasslands are a rare thing these days. There's a National Grasslands reserve in SW Kansas I visited once. And I always loved driving through the Flint Hills of Kansas. Pretty country.
Yeah they truly are! And such beautiful habitat, I wish they weren’t so rare. 😫 Was a really great week, I’m glad I could go :)

I've gotten one fairy egg from my chickens. Tiny little thing, all white, no yolk. I mixed it into some scrambled eggs. Should've taken a picture of it.
I got a fairy egg from the pullets that we hatched out in March. They are starting to lay better as the days pass. I have to say I'm proud of my Bresse Girls and the Dark Cornish Girls laying in the heat. Not unusual to get 7 eggs from the 7 Bresse still pullets.

One other thing I got accomplished today was to train my big White Rock boy to eat treats out of my shirt pocket. I can fold up a slice of bread or a pancake and he will come looking to see what I have in my pocket. My little Cubalaya x AGF pullet will soon be trained to look in my pocket for treats too.

That is very cool! Will the cats live there, or just have it for entertainment?
Well, the goal is to house these kittens and keep them off the streets and in a home ♡. KCCP works with other rescues on the mainland, so these kittens will probably get shipped to a facility who has less cat population and more demand.
We are a small island with a friendly environment and no predators. Our feral cat population has exploded and is endangering our native birds.
