What did you do with your flock today?

I store our dog toys in the biggest dog bed we have and they do plop right down and cuddle in...just wish they'd learn to put their toys away 😂. How's Shadow like his extra fluffy, lumpy bed? That's so sweet of Aria!
Oh I know, Koda leaves his toys all over the house and they are super hard plastic because he loves destroying the softer ones, so it's like stepping on legos only sharper and wet :p. So far Shadow has not slept in the bed, but he has taken out the stuffies (he especially likes the T-Rex 🦖) and played with them, which is super adorable. :love

Aww, thank you! Still testing positive for covid and still feeling pretty rubbish but I do feel a bit better today. Good news yesterday in that I was told I can permanently work from home, so now I can spend even more time with the chickens 😁 How's your thumb doing?
At 5.5 weeks, can do light activity, still wearing the splint at night and if I'll be in a risky situation where it could get bent wrong. Glad you can teleworking now. No commute time. Yay! More flock time. Hope you will fully recover soon.

Seriously though, do you find anything affects the flavour of eggs? Mine get all sorts of things that are traditionally said to flavour eggs, e.g. they get oily fish at least twice a month and they regularly gèt into my garlic bed, dig up the bulbs and gorge on them. They also go crazy for garlic bread if they can get their beaks on it. And they absolutely love my home-made veggie chilli. I really haven't noticed any of it tainting the eggs.
No, not yet. Just kidding. Maybe the color, but not the flavor.

Got in a bit of chicken time today but not much (soccer in the morning and football to watch in the afternoon!).

Gave Soup a bath and let her coop out for some free time and oversaw the children while they filled feeders and waterers! Then we let the fancy pants chickens out for awhile…they really do make you think of old time gentlemen and ladies in a Jane Austen novel in petticoats and parasols 😍

And the ladies…

And lastly, I put together a hammock bed for Shadow (for those short times he’s indoors 😉) and Aria decided he needed stuffies to sleep with like she does. 🥰

Aria is such a sweet, thoughtful girl. Your animals are fortunate to have her and you to care for them.

:hitI had been out all day, and hadn't gone out until this evening to treat the chooks and gather eggs.. Sad to report that I found a headless Velma out under the trees, but still in the enclosure. This was the rescue chick from March. Hawk, perhaps? I don't believe a raccoon can climb over the 6' fence, and usually eats more of the body, or tries to drag it away. I found feathers strewn along a 20' line. Definitely not a coyote, mink would have possibly killed more chickens? Heartbroken.

Racoons are natural born climbers. They pretty much live in trees. Sorry about Velma.
