What did you do with your flock today?

I double checked myself tonight making sure both doors were closed on the layer coops. A few nights ago the girls had a jump start on free ranging the next morning. I had not closed the east or west door on either coop. Serious senior moment.

I thought you were going to confine your chickens for 30 days because they ticked you off?

I had been out all day, and hadn't gone out until this evening to treat the chooks and gather eggs.. Sad to report that I found a headless Velma out under the trees, but still in the enclosure. This was the rescue chick from March. Hawk, perhaps? I don't believe a raccoon can climb over the 6' fence, and usually eats more of the body, or tries to drag it away. I found feathers strewn along a 20' line. Definitely not a coyote, mink would have possibly killed more chickens? Heartbroken.

O I'm so sorry! Think it's impossible to nurse an animal without it finding a special place in our hearts.

I'm sooo behind on everything.
Sitting and waiting at the humane society so 2 fosters can be seen. Both kittens are slow and not eating.
Got broken hip hubby home and settled yesterday. He is doing well. Modern medicine is amazing!!!
I have 3 sick chickens at home who need my care. Soooo pulled. One foot infront of the other and breathing

Poor hubby, kittens and you! Hope hubby's a good patient and kitties and chickens do ok. Hugs and hope there's a quiet moment in the midst of all that for you too.

Had errands to run from early today so didn't get to pet chores til after dark. Got a kick out of seeing all this year's babies cuddling up to sleep with Barista. Mama Java doesn't sleep with them. Her and Magic are sleeping buddies and like to sleep on the platform above the baby safety cage.

And thought I'd share some pictures of Mojo. He's doing so good! He still doesn't actually like people, but he trusts me which is amazing to me. Still hoping the pig sanctuary takes him. He really needs a piggy friend rather than poultry and people.

You must be soooo ready for a break! I had a dream last night with you in it! You and your DH we’re relocating to a cabin in the woods and we’re getting a tour with a bunch of extended family…and I was there for some reason and knew it was you but you didn’t know it was me and I was too embarrassed and shy to say hi I have issues haha.

I’m glad to hear that your DH is healing okay! Hips are not an easy thing to break…you sort of need them for things!

I cannot imagine 16 Shadows at 4 am plus all the crowing Although I might take the cats over my children fighting and husband yelling at them to get ready for school. That’s definitely gotta be more annoying haha.

I’m so sorry you lost B and have sick chickens! I know she was special, and so well loved. Keeping all the balls in the air is just too much sometimes. I’ve been there too many times to count sadly. Sending hugs friend, I wish I could come help so you could get a break!

Dogs often get on great with pigs in my limited experience? Or you could adopt him a friend? He's obviously very trusting and happy with you!

So, after a 1 hour drive and a brutal 3 hour wait... the little patients were seen. I was pretty fussy about showing up to my 12 o'clock appointment early- it being a "silver bullet" or called in favor, also, me having done past and present work for them. Mostly it was because I squeeked out the time to get the kitties in and still needing to be in (at least) 2 other places just the same.
Elepaio was very weak, i was afraid i was going to lose him.

Both had fevers and dehydration I was very grateful for the help and my fears calmed quickly. Hoping today I see improvement.
The rest of kitties are bright eyed and playing like bandits.

I was worried that when I got home I was going to have chicken casualties. One is holding on, while the other 2 showed good improvement. Good ol syringe feeding ♡ This one is hard. I suspect botulism and I did not get to them early. I can only keep doing what I can... when I can. I hate not being able to give 100% but my available time has improved now that dh is home. I really despise drive time...
