What did you do with your flock today?

IKR?? But this one is expensive (hospitalization is expensive) and is far from me and, Gosh, I took my hen there on an Uber, then I ran out of money and went back home in a bus in the middle of the night.

Just thinking about going back there (because I must pick her up if she survives) stresses the hell out of me.

But I couldn't do anything else, I couldn't let her die.

And now, if she recovers, she must go back there for neutering in about 10 days... Until then I must make sure she doesn't lay an egg and ruin it all...

I'm exhausted, guys, I'm literally having a mental breakdown and I'm alone in this. My family is not supportive of my decisions, even though it's my money and not theirs, they think I went too far with this chicken...
I do hope your beloved girl get healed and has a long life with you. Do as you want with your money as you can. We both know if it was another family members beloved dog or cat that they might do the same with a vet. I've lost several pets this year and my only relief is there are new ones coming to keep me company. When you have as many as we do the odds are that some are lost but it is still hard to live with losing them.

You're the one who has to live with the consequences of your choices. Sometimes we get stuck where any choice causes regret, and we have to decide what will hurt less in the long run. Hopefully your family is just trying to guide you, and underneath their advice is complete understanding of that. I'm so sorry you're having to go through all this. Sending all my good wishes your way.

@MaeM , Many of us here feel your pain, and any pet we have put our love, heart and soul into caring for, not to mention cost, is difficult to let go. You are doing your best, as you know how to, and so sorry your girl has to have such expensive and extensive care. We don't know your age, but as you are living under your parent's care, you have are fortunate to be able to have these wonderful creatures. I can tell that you are a very caring and sensitive person. Your chickens are so very lucky to have such a wonderful momma.

When Ma came in from closing coops she was met at the gate by Honey. Honey was on top of the gate in the middle and was coming with ma inside our coop. She got to fill her crop with cracked corn for the cold night out. She roosted on top of her coop instead of in it. She perched in trees before she was rehomed with us. We intended to take her out and put her in her coop but in the need for her safety and ours she's staying in a cardboard coop inside with us tonight. She's probably going to make a house chicken if we can make a diaper work on her. Her coop outside is in the background and the door is never closed. There is no ramp up to it and the legs are covered with slick metal so nothing can climb up to get in.

I've seen people use disposable masks. The kind we all used and still use for covid and in hospitals. Thought it very smart and cool.

Well, today was a day. All good but a bit emotionally up and down.
Got paid for horse and trailer and saddle... so, Hombre is no longer mine. His new people are young and kind and look to have it together.
Got a photo of my future bike...

The white peice of paper is a sold sticker with my name on it. Gulp 😳
Far to pretty for me but I am going to have a lot of practical fun on her.

I’m so sorry you have to deal with this stressful issue, and sending you lots of positive energy. ❤️ I’ve had some really rough times with my chickens and I know how much it hurts and how hard it can be on your emotional strength and well being. Come and vent and share here as much as you need, as we understand more than your family does (many just don’t know how special our chickens are!). Find comfort knowing she has known only the very best love and care no matter what, you are her person and she knows you love her ❤️❤️
