What did you do with your flock today?

My chickens want to come visit you 😂. All the native trees here have leaves about the size of rice grains.

Mainly sycamore and oak 😎😎😎

I think it could be possible but very risky without knowing exactly where that foot is placed and if there's any organ/arterial involvement. Little Hop needs an x-ray to be certain.
As it's so unusual , would a veterinary college be interested in taking a look and seeing if it can be freed?
Good suggestion!

Speaking of which... it's time to figure out the TG menu. I am going to pardon the turkey too. Salmon and spiral ham plus some fixings. I'll do the cooking and bring the food to AJs house. May have a small crowd.
What is everyone else up to?
Staying home. DH isn't able to help much anymore, so I informed the son that he's my new kitchen helper!

Turkey, sausage stuffing, 4 cheese Mac & cheese, homemade cranberry sauce, yams, homemade pumpkin and mince pies.

Uhoh. Chicken for thanksgiving this year?
DH loves chicken and dumplings. Southern boy, you know? Funny story. I learned how to make this from his aunt and grandma. One day he told someone that I make gourmet chicken and dumplings, because there are no bones in it. Apparently, his family didn't pick the bones out, you had to do it yourself while eating. I just might have to give him a throwback sometime, and be a lazybones. 😉

So sorry your whole house got sick. That is rough. Glad you are pulling out of it just in time to make a big meal 😂 Probably the last thing you want to think about now. Lots of food 😜
We have a kid down a few houses away. 2nd stomach bug in 3 weeks.

I found simplifying the meal made the day more enjoyable. No one really likes turkey except for my chickens anyways... usually still warm weather on TG day and a big hot meal seems forced.
Roasted pig on a spit does sound good... guess somebody had better behave 😳View attachment 3685705
Kalua pig! Watch out, Mojo! @ChicksnMore edited since Mojo has gone to his new forever home. Yay! Those wild pigs on Kauai can become good smoked meat, though.

DH has let me know that staying home is his preference. In the past we had gone to the base galley for holiday meals. He doesn't care for the cafeteria atmosphere. I loved it because no cooking or cleaning up, alas, no leftovers either. This year, attempting to debone and make a boneless turkey roast, along with family favorites green bean casserole, mashed taters, fresh cranberry sauce, butternut squash, monkey bread, pumpkin pie, pecan or Chinese custard tarts, a friend is making sausage apple stuffing. Lots of gravy!

Help me decide!

I have 5 girls that are either already laying or about to lay and 4 chicks in the brooder. Which size countertop display should I get? One holds 2 dozen and the other holds 3 dozen. I eat 3 eggs per day, hubs will eat 4 a few times per week, and my kids probably consume 6 total per week. My in-laws will likely take a half/full dozen twice a month once they’re really producing. I can’t figure out if I’ll be sad I don’t have extra space or if it’ll be so empty with the larger one it’ll look silly.

If you have the counter space, whichever one you like! I don't have the luxury of a lot of space, so I just collect them into egg cartons and refrigerate when full, without washing. I keep all the jumbo ones for us and usually sell the rest. I have a list of people that want them whenever I have any extra.
