What did you do with your flock today?

All have been cared for this morning and the Hooligans that follow under foot all day are out enjoying a nice sunny day in the grass. I picked a few of them up for some one on one conversation and most had no problem with me doing so. The exception was when I picked up Foghorn when he was busy trying to court a RIR pullet through the hardware cloth coop door. He screamed like a Banchie. He thought he had a good thing going and I messed it up.

Brought my DS his clean laundry and some chicken feed up the mountain. My chickens were so beautiful that I took some photos of them. Does not due justice.

My babies are all wonderful and truly beautiful, I am so grateful.View attachment 3685376Cheepie's new feathers ♡View attachment 3685377I let them out to stretch their fuzzy legs this eve.View attachment 3685378
Cleaned coops, gathered eggs, watering lawn and mailed off paperwork for new bike.
It's hard for me to be patient 😬

So, teaching my youngest to ride m. bike now 🤣 It is good to be involved and helping my young men ride and enjoy life.View attachment 3685384View attachment 3685386
Your flocks are so beautiful because you are, outside and inside. 🥰

I only ordered online once but placing that order was one of the most exciting shopping experiences haha. How much do you sell laying pullets? Do you figure out how much feed they consume then add that to the cost? Its a very cool idea!
I bought some one year, 5 for $120, he gave me a discount, as they were $30 each. I could probably sell them for $30-35, but I'll check the current market prices and see. Chick prices for the breeds I got were around $7 each, including shipping. Then again, I could have a roosting extension put in the current coop and keep them all. 😉🤞😁 My current feed for the previous chooks was about $ 50-60 per month. Littles, until point of lay, don't consume as much when they're small and growing, so I may need just a few bags of starter/grower, which cost just a few $ more per bag. If I can recoup the $100 plus feed, it will make it an even exchange. Just my time for brooding them is a given, as you all well know.

I think it could be possible but very risky without knowing exactly where that foot is placed and if there's any organ/arterial involvement. Little Hop needs an x-ray to be certain.
As it's so unusual , would a veterinary college be interested in taking a look and seeing if it can be freed?
That would be a fabulous idea. Do you have one nearby, or go through the school you take your courses from?
