What did you do with your flock today?

Washed Hops bottom today and I keep looking to see if any changes. The scabs still there so I can't really tell a lot. But I did see leg/foot movement this time from inside. More leg than foot I think? Don't think that can be good though. It seems closer to the surface than before. He seems like he's doing really well overall and comfortable. Still not sure what to think on if he has any real chance long term. Wish I knew if he can be ok or if that foot insides going to get him eventually. Can't think of any way to free that foot. Sure wish I could. Does that look more under the skin to you guys? Starting to think the foots not in the abdomen but between the skin and abdominal wall. If so, maybe it can be freed? I think it could be possible but very risky without knowing exactly where that foot is placed and if there's any organ/arterial involvement. Little Hop needs an x-ray to be certain.
As it's so unusual , would a veterinary college be interested in taking a look and seeing if it can be freed?

So, the other night I did a thing online. I pre-ordered :jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy They will be here the first week of March. 5 pullets each of white leghorns, a blue color pack, and dominant copper (darker brown eggs) from Jenks Hatchery in Oregon, so the littles will get here overnight instead of 2 days. The plan is to raise them to point of lay and then sell some of them, keep enough to replenish my flock, and have a colorful eggs basket.
My DH nearly had a heart attack yesterday. He caught me browsing a hatchery catalogue which had 'somehow' found it's way to me... 🤣
He was relieved beyond belief when I explained it was a U.S. based company and therefore wouldn't be able to ship to the U.K.

It's probably a good thing or we'd be overrun with littles. I'm sure envious of you being able to just order the breeds you want. Here, you either buy hatching eggs if there's a specific breed you want or travel the length of the country to collect them.

I'd be in agonies of impatience and excitement if I were you.

I was a little concerned that Ginger didn't poop much yesterday, nor this morning, and she only had a small, very firm one. When I got home from the doctor and errands today, oh my goodness! I have never seen a 💩 as big, or as smelly as what she laid. Laid, as in almost in size of an egg! Is this the kind that broody hens make?
My girls all do an enormous 💩 first thing whether they're broody or not!

Brought my DS his clean laundry and some chicken feed up the mountain. My chickens were so beautiful that I took some photos of them. Do not due justice.

Cleaned coops, gathered eggs, watering lawn and mailed off paperwork for new bike. It's hard for me to be patient 😬

So, teaching my youngest to ride now 🤣 It is good to be involved and helping my young men ride and enjoy life.View attachment 3685384View attachment 3685386

I only ordered online once but placing that order was one of the most exciting shopping experiences haha. How much do you sell laying pullets? Do you figure out how much feed they consume then add that to the cost? Its a very cool idea!

I'm missing a pet hen. She normally roosts on the porch with the other pets but didn't last night so I thought she went into the pet coop that she used to roost in with some of the other free ranging pets. She is no where to be found. I checked a pullet coop that she could have stowed away in this morning when their coop door was open tonight but she's not there. Either she is out in a layer coop of birds her age or a predator has taken her. She's not been laying in her usual spot to my only hope of seeing her again is if she went broody on a hidden nest. She is one of the RIR girls I could pickup and hold in my lap and hand feed her. I hate to pen the pets up in a coop and run but I may have to for their own good.
I hope she shows up today!
