What did you do with your flock today?

That's amazing he does that! I've only had one dog smart enough to try to look behind a mirror. She's my right mazer of a dog, Iri. She's also my butterfly shadow chaser that waits for a moment when they land...then gently nudges them back into flight so she can go back to chasing their shadow. Only had to yell no and rush her outside once when I caught her about to pee and that was it, she was potty trained that simple. Amazing dog in the IQ department but a worthless guard dog 😂. She's my gentle soul who's only guard value is that she marks her territory daily to announce there's dogs here, beware. But all the other dogs watch her when I'm teaching something. They wait for her to figure out what I'm asking for, then mimic her. I taught her speak, shake, high five and other stuff...and really she taught the others 🥰. She's a special girly.
How amazing! What breed/breeds is she?
My uncle had a lab/gsd/Springer spaniel cross and she was so smart. She could pick up anything you showed her in minutes. I say she was smart but she  did once eat 6 tennis ball sized steel ball bearings... I guess that was the greedy lab in her 😂 She was a lousy guard dog too. They were burgled once and she greeted the intruders then got back on the sofa (where she wasn't allowed btw) and went to sleep :lau
Rather have a gentle soul than a guard dog any day of the week!
My cat, Grace, quite often chases birds, sheep and snooker balls off the edge of the t.v. screen then goes round the back looking for them too. Wouldn't say she's particularly clever though.

We still have that Kona low effecting our weather. Meteorologist said till Sunday. I'm totally loving it. It is so green and cool and beautiful now.

Chooks are spending more time in the run. I'll let them out around 3pm.

Kittens are back in their condo, napping, because all of the late night trouble they cause in the house is exhausting. I had split the condo for Waihona, the more feral, feral kitten. This morning I but her in her new digs, b4 butting in the others in the other half. I hope she will be happy to have some company and much more room.

Sold 3.5 dozen eggs today.

And...View attachment 3695044Finally got shipped out! I get to pick it up on Monday ♡ Most exciting!!!
Woo-hoo! Not long now!

Have to save eggs for baking this week. Only 1-3 a day. 4 of 6 hens are laying and slowly doing a very gradual molt at the same time. The 2 not laying had blowout molts, and are almost grown back, no red headgear yet.
Olena prefers wet food, and always needs her towel to wipe her beak on. Question, does a recovering basically immobile patient usually eat less than the 4 oz., and is this ok? I've never had a house chicken for this long. Tomorrow it will be 4 weeks. I let her eat all she wants, and she eats the most in the morning, and snacks off and on, eating another portion in the evening. Now that she's eating her food and water, she doesn't care to drink much. 2-3 normal large 💩 a day. She is readily eating her vitamin tablets on her own, but I still have to put the E capsule in her mouth. What do you use to weigh your chooks, if you do?

I put my chicken in a nice mesh bag and use a hanging digital scale. Accurate and easy.

I think the eating thing ebbs but as long as you are seeing even a slow increase in food and appite you can remain hopeful. I make sure my chooks hit the min of 30mils, keep free choice available, also offer favorite fruits and veggies if I feel appetite needs to be stimulated or crop needs to be topped off.

Thin is better than starving, do what you can. It will probably take her a bit to get back to her optimum weight. I think you are doing an amazing job with her ♡♡♡

Great idea! Looking for my luggage scale today! Thank you for the extra assurance that she is eating sufficiently.

Today I went out to feed mash, and discovered CHEEPING from under our broody! They weren't "due" yet but exciting!
