What did you do with your flock today?

How amazing! What breed/breeds is she?
My uncle had a lab/gsd/Springer spaniel cross and she was so smart. She could pick up anything you showed her in minutes. I say she was smart but she  did once eat 6 tennis ball sized steel ball bearings... I guess that was the greedy lab in her 😂 She was a lousy guard dog too. They were burgled once and she greeted the intruders then got back on the sofa (where she wasn't allowed btw) and went to sleep :lau
Rather have a gentle soul than a guard dog any day of the week!
My cat, Grace, quite often chases birds, sheep and snooker balls off the edge of the t.v. screen then goes round the back looking for them too. Wouldn't say she's particularly clever though.
Grace sounds adorable 😍....none of my animals watch TV at all.
I got Iri from the humane society and they said she's an Australian shepherd mix. She's the only dog here we got on purpose 🤣. Smartest dog I've ever owned though. But....not smart enough to not drink bleach water once years and years ago when she was young. ☹️😂. She also tries to lick deodorant off you and chows down on hay with horse...her tongue likes some really weird things.

Have to save eggs for baking this week. Only 1-3 a day. 4 of 6 hens are laying and slowly doing a very gradual molt at the same time. The 2 not laying had blowout molts, and are almost grown back, no red headgear yet.
Olena prefers wet food, and always needs her towel to wipe her beak on. Question, does a recovering basically immobile patient usually eat less than the 4 oz., and is this ok? I've never had a house chicken for this long. Tomorrow it will be 4 weeks. I let her eat all she wants, and she eats the most in the morning, and snacks off and on, eating another portion in the evening. Now that she's eating her food and water, she doesn't care to drink much. 2-3 normal large 💩 a day. She is readily eating her vitamin tablets on her own, but I still have to put the E capsule in her mouth. What do you use to weigh your chooks, if you do?
I have a scale for weighing puppies that a friend left me when she passed away. It can weigh less then a pound though I don't remember how small of increments it can go... I've rarely used it.
Think it's about the same as a food scale though. It has a removable bowl on top that can be washed. It's wonderful for weighing chicks and chickens though.

Shes watching them close! She looks a little startled to me...like she's wondering how her precious eggs became fluffy balls 😂
She gets all fluffy and talkative when I've picked them up to investigate and calms down when they go back. Hopefully everything works how it's supposed to, everything is set up in her little area, so fingers crossed

Broody moms are beautiful along with their brood ♡ never gets old seeing them with their funny expressions first day of a hatch.

It is still raining here. Chooks are hanging out in dry places waiting for near drowning bugs to surface so they can run out and snatch them up. That, and the hope I clean my fridge out is what they are living for today. Can't say as I blame them. It is def a tea, blanket and good movie kind of day. 🐛🐔🌧🌧🌧🌧🌧🌧🌧🌧

I'd like to candle eggs under my broody Dark Cornish but the though of how those mama's to be would respond is enough to just let her handle it. Actually both of the girls went broody a week apart.
I've "messed" with my girls as soon as they hatched haha, when they are in the nest, talking to them, petting them, reaching under them, all around getting them used to me and my hands being there. I have a thread about her in a Body Hatch along.

But are they those "want to fight looking dark cornish girls?" My big mistake was not writing down the day they started staying on the nests. I've just got to wait it our. Either they give up and leave or come off with chicks.
