What did you do with your flock today?

Spent some more time with legs. I want to make him a movie star. He is patient for the camera.

That is very true! I need to keep this perspective better! 🤪 It is true, although in this case I got more confused because different Ameraucanas scored well 😆 Although one thing I learned is that Angus, my black Ameraucana is not doing as well as I thought he would so I am going to have to keep studying the rooster SOP till I have a better idea what they want. I think he’s just so beautiful but he takes second any time I bring him! I’m taking him to Lodi in two weeks and there will be new judges so maybe as he ages it will improve…? But you are right, the learning experience is just as important if not more so! I’m still very new to all this. I’m not good at patience or acknowledging my own limitations! 🤪

I was pleasantly surprised to see that Monica got second in the pullet quail category though. When in the cages with her peers, she definitely has notable lack of proper lacing. Her type is super nice though, so that must’ve ranked high enough! 😍 Thanks for the reminder to focus on the positives 🥰❤️
I think Angus is beautiful too! What do the judges know, eh? 🤣

Insulated one wall of our coop where our biggest issue of draft is coming from took thin boards and screwed to the wall and stapled flattened feed bags to the wood and filled with shredded paper. We broke 2 of my dads drill bits. It should definately be warmer tonight for them. Still gonna shut the coop door today. West south west winds. Which theres a 2 foot gap above the wood board so might as well be safe rather than sorry. I'm ready to redo winter prep to get things sorted out.

When I was in high school I showed a white laced red cornish rooster. He got a white ribbon because he had not been slaughtered at the proper age. Thd judge didn't know the difference in a White Laced Red Cornish and a Cornish Rock broiler.
You’re kidding?!? What in the world were they thinking bringing in a judge that clueless? Oh my gosh! 😳 That’s crazy 😆 White Laced Cornish are SO pretty too! 😍 Some day I want some Cornish bantams.
